We had the good fortune of connecting with Passion “P-Say” Roosevelt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Passion “P-Say”, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is my PASSION. They say passion is energy and I bring that energy to everything that I do in this entertainment industry. I get excited every time I get to showcase my talents and skills especially as an International Influential Speaker. That’s why it is so important to love what you do. My passion keeps me going, it pushes me to give my greatest self and it allows me to stand out from the average. Now that’s PASSION Power!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other speakers is my goofiness and willingness to place myself in the shoes of those that I’m impacting. I never want to stand before an audience, especially students and speak as if I’m demanding them to take the information that I’m giving to them. Whenever I’m speaking at a school, I like to be a little animated just enough to get the students to feel comfortable with me. This allows them to let their guards down and receive any information that can transform their lives. I like to remember when I was their age and speak to the younger me. When I get students to come up to me after I speak telling me how much they needed to hear my words, my story and how from that day their life will never be the same, that makes my heart smile. It makes my speaking career all worth it; more than any amount of money that can be given to me. Knowing that I can have such an impact and influence on another human being is amazing. But the challenges I’ve faced is investing in myself and my business as a speaker to cover costs like mentorship, website, logo design, LLC, filming equipment for content, brand merchandise inventory, marketing, additional courses, travel expenses to attend conferences and more while I was already struggling with bills at home. Raising three teenage girls isn’t easy when the bookings aren’t paying. I’ve stood for free on plenty of stages with high energy giving tips and advice to help others improve their lives while mine was drowning in debt. When someone book me, they know the value that I have but their budget just won’t match it. I rarely if ever turn down a booking just because they don’t have a budget but I just wished that they understood that this is my livelihood and this is how I feed and shelter my kids. When they don’t pay me, my kids are affected by it. But I love what I do as a speaker and I know that God will continue to provide for me and my girls. I believe that one day someone will write a check to me for a huge amount and I will know that all those free gigs weren’t in vain. I won’t give up because of money. That’s not my motivation. I’m driven by heart and as long as mine is beating I will continue to motivate and inspire others. My brand says, “PASSION – The Fearless Pursuit of Going After Your Dreams,” and I want everyone to know that their dreams are attainable. It’s going to take some work, some sacrifices but with great PASSION comes great rewards.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to make my visitors create their own experiences whenever they visit my city. Miami has so many awesome spots that it doesn’t matter where you are, as long as you’re with loving and supportive people you’re going to enjoy yourself. There are some great black owned restaurants that I do love showing off and they are Lorna’s Caribbean & American Grill, Sunday’s Eatery, The Licking and The Juicy Crab.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to the highest whom without him nothing I do will be possible. I most certainly have to shout out my mother Eula Ferguson and my daughters Kayla, Dionni and Destiny for being my solid rocks. I am also totally grateful for my “Mr. Over Deliver” speaking coach Jeremy Anderson and the Next Level Speakers Academy. When I decided to put 100% focus on my speaking career, God led me to Jeremy Anderson. His mentorship is unlike any other that I’ve experienced in this speaking field. The community of speakers in the Next Level Speakers Academy and his team, especially the branding guru David Anderson has been supportive since the day I joined. I love how the speakers push one another in this group and there is absolutely no jealously. We all want each other to win because when one of us win, we all win. Shout out to two of the best international speakers Eric Thomas and Trent Shelton whom I had the pleasure of learning from as well. You can not stop learning, EVER. The more you know the more you grow.
