We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Val and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose an artistic career because I get to express emotions from life experiences in forms of music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is that I stay true to myself and who I am. I am most proud of the consistency and dedication that I have given to music over the years. The biggest accomplishment out of my music career is that I recently released my first album of 11 songs. And how I reached that point was my decision to have a team of dedicated people who believe in me. It has not been easy. If it was easy, we would all make it quick right? I overcome the challenges by taking each day at a time because making music is a process. I’ve learned to be patient and trust the process. Lessons I’ve learned is let timing take it’s course-don’t rush the process of the product you are trying to produce. What I want the world to learn about my music is sound versatility and culture.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would do beach all week! Besides the beach, we would head over to some cool spots in the Wynwood area and check out Wynwood Walls and check out some cool art, take them over to Coyo Taco on Wednesday night to check out the Dubwise reggae party and get some good tacos. Broken Shaker to get some nice hand crafted drinks, Oasis on Sunday to check out live reggae performances. I’d also take them to a cool sushi spot called Moshi Moshi. We’d also spend some of the days over at Brickell City Center to shop and dine at Tacology. And finally I have to get them to try Haitian food, so we would head over to Chef Creole in Little Haiti to enjoy tasty Haitian dishes and check out Sounds of Little Haiti to check out some live musical performances.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out Jeff Wainwright and Sabine Francoeur from Kreyol Music for playing a role in my music journey.
