We had the good fortune of connecting with Paula Heaven-Swaby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paula, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Being in business has taught me many tough lessons. Most importantly, it’s not enough to simply work hard to succeed. There is so much more required. Some things are expected, while others are not. It’s the unexpected issues that you don’t have a plan for that can really take a financial and mental toll on you. I’ve learned that while planning is the key to success, you cannot plan for every possible scenario and you just have to create a game plan for things that are simply out of your control.

The Sweet Space is an intimate event venue that is perfect for birthdays, baby showers, classes and business meetings. We also offer full service event decorating, party rentals, staffing and balloon art, on-site and off-site.

We opened in August 2020 during the pandemic shutdown and it has been an uphill battle since. We had to learn to be fluid and adapt to unexpected changes, especially with the economy that followed the pandemic. Being in a business that offers services that aren’t considered essential is quite the challenge when money is tight all around, but we are managing by being creative and flexible. We’ve tapped into the world of coaching, classes and content creation to name a few.

We give our best to make your event a Sweet Reality!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A trip to Brickell City Centre is a must! The shopping, dining and entertainment options are amazing and plentiful. What’s a trip to South Florida without heading to the beach? There are miles and miles of beautiful beaches with tons of things to do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am without the support and encouragement of my family and friends. They have rallied around me, held my hand and wiped my tears when things are rough. I could never repay them for all they’ve done!
