We had the good fortune of connecting with Paulna Lorimaire and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paulna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is like fear, in the sense that it is required to achieve a goal. I have always been the person who was willing to take risks. I believe this has allowed me to succeed. I have never been afraid of failure. As a matter of fact, I expect failure and learn from it. I took a risk at 17, leaving everything and everyone I know to attend college three hours away from home. I took a risk to move to the island of saint Maarten for medical School. However, these risks have led me to be the first physician in my family.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a physician on Fort Lauderdale,FL. This was not an easy feat. I had to complete 15 years of education and training after high school. Not to mention take countless exams. Of those was a 2 day board exam that was the hardest exam to ensure both mentally and emotionally, I think what makes me stand out is my passion and outgoing personality. Also that I can relate to my community being that I was born and raised in pompano beach, FL. I am most proud of not allowing my environment and surroundings to dictate my future. I have learned that hard work and a good attitude will take you far in life. I want the world to know that you can become anything you put your mind too.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Fort Lauderdale is a very exciting place with lots to do and see. I would explore both Miami and Fort Lauderdale. In Miami we would have brunch a cafe bistro and go to brickell to go shopping. We would have dinner at sexy fish and take lots of pics. I would take her out to eleven afterwards. We would also eat at shooters, lobster bar, Kaluz, Houston’s, and blue moon. I would take her to go cart racing, the beach, a spa at Waldorf Astoria. We would do more shopping at bal harbour and do a yacht day.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My father deserves the recognition, he shaped and molded me into who I am today. His strength and persistence has always made an impact in my life. Also his unwavering support and love.
