We had the good fortune of connecting with Petra Xausa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Petra, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
This is a question that comes at the right time! Recently I have been thinking a lot about my future career and I have been able to realize that I would like art to be part of it and become an animator. Since I was a kid i was fascinated by animation movies and I always thought that it would be an amazing job, doing what you like and speak to children and adults through stories and characters. Honestly I am not sure I will be able to achieve this, due to some difficulties I’m encountering at the moment, but I will try my best for sure. I hope, one day, I will be able to make others feel the same way I felt by watching characters think and act in my favorite movies.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Like anything else even the art path is not easy. You have to work hard to reach your goals and that is what makes them taste so good when you finally accomplish them. Something that is achieved without fatigue and hard working, at the end, does not give you the same satisfaction. In my art journey I always had to count on myself. A thing that someone should know about me and my work is that I am an autodidact. I did not go to art school and I did not join any kind of art course. I learnt everything I know by watching tutorials, reading books, studying the old masters and, as any other respected artist, practicing and making mistakes, all be my own. This made everything more difficult for me but I did it and I am so proud of where I am now with my art.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well due to the covid-19 situation that we are living at the moment my best friend and I couldn’t meet and I miss her so much. So as soon as possible and when she will come to visit me I would love to take her to Venice, where we could see different places (art museums are my favorites), eat ice cream and stay there until the sun goes down, this last one is a must-to-do thing when you come visit the city. Venice is a stunning place, a destination that I would suggest to anyone who comes in Italy. It is full of culture, art and beautiful places. There is a reason why it is called the “city of love”, you cannot not fall in love with it.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your Support and encouragement from others, especially our loved ones, is very important. It helps us to go on and to find a purpose. That is why firstly I would like to thank my parents who support me every day in the way they can and make lots of sacrifices for me. I may not say that often but I am so grateful for what they do. Secondly, I want to thank my artist friends. Through art I had the privilege to meet so many amazing people who share my same interests and that had been always by my side whenever I needed. They kept me motivated and never stepped back to encourage me when I felt like giving up, they always had my back. Last but not least I want to thank a person that I think all of us should thank and give more recognition to, myself. At times we may forget how much we work for our own good, I do not want to take that for granted. I did and I am doing a lot for me. I am working hard and at the limit of my capabilities for my needs and wants. I know I still have a long way to go but I am glad to walk through it as the person I have become.
