We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Martel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Princess, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
What makes me happiest is my wife and the relationship we have built over the years. She started out as my best friend, then we got engage in front of Mt. Fuji in Japan, and now she’s also my business partner. There’s nothing in the world that makes me happier than brainstorming with her and seeing our ideas come to life together.

What should our readers know about your business?
dockaboat is all about empowering dock owners by helping them monetize their docks, which are valuable assets. Just as Airbnb transformed how people think about travel and lodging, we’re changing the way people view boating. We provide a platform that allows boaters to dock their boats anywhere and everywhere, making travel by boat more accessible and hassle-free.

What sets us apart is our commitment to creating a seamless experience for both dock owners and boaters. We’re opening up new opportunities for dock owners to generate income, and for boaters to explore new destinations without the traditional constraints.

Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy. Like any innovative idea, we faced skepticism and challenges, but we remained committed to our vision. We knew that, just as Airbnb showed people the value of staying in someone else’s home, we could show dock owners the potential of their docks. We overcame these challenges by focusing on the needs of our users and continuously improving our platform.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that innovation often meets resistance, but with perseverance, great things can happen. Our app is here to make boating and travel easier, more flexible, and more enjoyable. We’re excited to keep growing and helping people see the world in a new way—by boat!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sure! Here’s the itinerary without the day-by-day breakdown:

If my best friend were visiting the area, I’d make sure they had the best time ever by hitting up some of my favorite spots. First on the list would be dinner at Ushio, where we could enjoy some of the freshest fish around at unbeatable prices—definitely a hidden gem in the area.

For music and nightlife, we’d head to Tin Roof, where the live music and vibrant atmosphere make it the perfect place to unwind and have a great time.

We’d also spend a day on the golf course at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. The course is beautiful, and it’s a fantastic way to enjoy the Florida sunshine while playing a round of golf.

No trip would be complete without a beach day, so we’d spend time lounging by the water, maybe even trying out some water sports, and then head to a waterfront restaurant for dinner with a stunning view like Takato.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I think about where I am today, I have to give a huge shoutout to the incredible people who have believed in me along the way: My wife, my family and friends. Their support has been the foundation of everything I’ve accomplished.

I also want to recognize some amazing friends and mentors who have believed in me and supported my journey: Lou Trillo, Alexandra Satine, Maria Derchi, Brian Brackeen, and Atlas Berry. Meeting them has been a game-changer, and their belief and support has made a difference.

These relationships mean the world to me, and I’m grateful to have such a solid support system in my life.
