We had the good fortune of connecting with Priscilla Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Priscilla, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
The most important impact I have shown my children while creating my small business is when there’s an obstacle there is always a solution. I created Miami Coqutio because the winter of 2020 I couldn’t find any coquito for sale near me. So I took the hard road and created it for our Christmas Party. Needless to say the coquito I made came out to be quite delicious and I knew I had something special. Because of this, I knew creating a small business was going to take time I did not have, while I work full time, raise my children and still have a great relationship with my husband. I knew that although it was going to be a rough ride I was going to make it possible so my children will understand that no matter how hard a task may become it won’t be impossible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I currently work for a mortgage company and although it has been slowing down because of the market and interest rates it can be quite overwhelming. Balancing both work and life was easy this time around as when I was in college I was always a full time student and working at least two jobs. A couple years after graduating I started a family and this was the biggest challenge of all. Once you can balance working a full time job and have two small children and a relationship everything else becomes not as daring. With great effort and determination I was very fearful but I started Miami Coqutio and the all the challenges I have had I was able to sit and write down any issues . Once I saw my problem on the paper in front of me I started creating “Solution 1″, Solution 2” , “Solution 3” and was able to chose the best one. What sets me apart from other owner’s is that I’m originally from New Jersey were I was trained to be a Customer Service Champion. I care and listen and give the time to make all my orders specials for all of my customers. I noticed here in Miami there are many businesses that when I walk in to ask a question it seems like I’m bothering the employee rather than making me feel welcomed and excited that I’m bringing them business no matter how big or small the store. My biggest dedication is for all my customers leave with a smile and that they had a pleasant encounter with me and they will be returning for more business in the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I would love to take them to the RedFish Grill in Coral Gables for an sunset dinner. But like every outsider they would like to visit Miami Beach and I would take her to the Versace Mansion and have a few drinks outside by the pool. The best part of her trip will be us walking from the Versace Mansion the Mango’s Tropical Cafe so she may experience the live music and Latin dancing of Miami. A spa day at Fontainbleau will have to be a must to relax and watch the oceans waves from the hotel room. Let’s not forget a boat ride around Starr Island with a hilarious captain. Best of all we will take our children to Jungle Island and Miami Zoo were we can all created unforgettable family memoires.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a big shoutout to my husband who supports and understands the time and dedication I need to fulfill all my customers orders. He helps me with all my deliveries & is my biggest tasting critic and because of him I was able to create a delicious recipe. I would like to shoutout my family who have supported and shared my small business with family and friends. A special shoutout goes to my mom for surprising me with a blender so I may start my orders and my brother who was my first and largest order!
