We had the good fortune of connecting with Ranyia Cleveland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ranyia, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Often times people think photographers over price their work because from their perspective, we just show up, snap a few photos, and the work is done. This is not the case at all! We price our work based on the years of experience in the field, the education we’ve learned, the expensive equipment we use, and many more factors. The editing process can take several hours, so we make sure our pricing reflects our desired hourly rate so we can pay ourselves fairly, and afford our business expenses!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m in love with what I do! I capture unique and creative images of my clients, and I love the confidence boost it gives them. My approach to my work has changed a bit. When I first started, I was a portrait photographer, and I would capture the moment for my client, so they can always have that memory forever. My work back then was very soft, simple portraits. Now, I aim to capture the most iconic and creative images of my clients, with a slight edge to them. I chose this route because it allowed me to really challenge myself creatively, and honestly made me fall in love with being a Photographer all over again! Making the switch from a Portrait Photographer to a Fashion Photographer was so exciting for me! I think deep down I was always meant to be a fashion Photographer, but I wasn’t confident enough to give myself that label. The more shoots I’ve done, the more and more I’ve wanted to make the switch. I would say what definitely helped me grow was to just go for it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Palm Beach, Rosemary Square is a popular area for dining, watching a movie, and other fun activities! I highly recommend checking out the area if you’re visiting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly, everyone in my circle is super supportive, and I couldn’t be more grateful! My mom is my cheerleader, and have been supporting me from the way beginning. My partner is my right hand. He loves assisting me with my shoots, and gives me many inspirational ideas. My family have been helpful with giving me information that can help the structure of my business, and gives me resources. My friends support me by sharing my work whenever they can, and even book with me or refer me to people they know. lastly, my amazing clients that I’ve previously worked with can be super supportive online, and refers me whenever they get the chance!
