We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Liriano McCain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raquel, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because Art is beautiful. Makeup is art it’s just like drawing a picture or painting on a canvas, My face is my canavas and every moment I get to create I take it. It’s peaceful and soothing. It can also be challenging and I’m all for a challenge. I love that there is no rules when it comes to makeup, and that there is always something new to learn.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others in the makeup industry is that every time I pick up a palette or a makeup brush I look at it like markers, crayons, paint brushes, paint and a canvas. Even if it’s a regular makeup look with lots of color or even natural colors I’m just ready to create. I’m most proud of how much I’ve grown each time I do a look it just gets better and better. Watching videos has helped me and I learn something different every time. I learned to never give up even if I don’t do a full look I still take 30 mins and practice something. I’m not in a race with anyone. I think in this industry there is room for everyone. I love challenges so I try to stay away from easy looks. I love playing in color.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite places to go here in South Florida for a night of fun is Las Olas in Fort. Lauderdale they have bars and restaurants and even clubs but my favorite is RockBar you can get your drinks and dance it up on the dance floor. Living here in Florida I can go to beach any time of the year, I enjoy Ft.Lauderdale beach. The art scenery in Wynwood Art District in Miami is beautiful all the spray painted pictures on the wall they tell so many stories. If you love shopping then Sawgrass Mills mall would be the place to go but you have to go early because the mall is so big it’s literally an all day thing and you still most likely won’t get to every store that’s how big it is.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my Husband Stevie McCain for always supporting me throughout these past years on my Journey from watching YouTube videos to creating my social media platform and buying me endless makeup. For always believing in me, watching me stay up late hours to finish a look. Next I would love to thank my family and friends who constantly show me love and support and also for believing in me. I promise I well never give up and I will continue to push and always come back harder!
