Meet DJ supreme | DJ, Graphic Designer, Blogger, Event Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ supreme and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DJ supreme, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always loved art and music from a young age. As a child I was always drawing or trying to new ways to be creative. I sang and played numerous instruments in middle school. In high school I did a lot of painting and drawing and started to learn graphic design, even started DJ’ing in high school as well. I come from a creative family, my mom was a creative also my dad and many relatives.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am just authentic and real. I love creating my two syndicated radio shows. I find peace in those times of creation. It is like my mental health break. I am 100% a music snob and just love to deep dive into the music realm. Especially in the genres that I love. I am always excited to create some thing new, try a new idea and see if it works. I create flyers, graphic tees, logos and so fourth. Just helps to keep the brain active. When it comes to all the things I do: radio shows, blogs, graphics, creating and organizing new parties/social events; it all takes organization, persistence, practice, willing to learn new concepts, and positive energy. To successfully pull anything off is hard work and takes a lot energy. The end product may look easy but it is definitely hard. We just have to keep pushing even in the face of failure, the never give up attitudes usually in play. I’ve learn along the way, you must have self awareness, great organization skills, you do not plan – you plan to fail. Also have to learn people skills, how to communicate and how to work with others as well as alone. Self determination is a key as well.
I have overcome a lot of challenges in life and I still feel like I have met my full potential. I almost lost my life in 2020 due to 2 strokes and a blood sugar over 2000, I was dead on arrival when I got to the emergency room, had to be induced into a coma for 2 weeks, by god’s grace I made it through and woke up but still had an uphill battle. I woke up paralyzed with diabetic neuropathy. I spent months in rehab working on myself to walk again, talk again to be able to do the things I love. Perseverance is something needed in anything in life. I am a survivor and just want show folks that no matter what you set your mind to, you can indeed achieve some sort of productivity and goal.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Wynwood, I am always in Wynwood. If I am not in Wynwood I am in Fort Lauderdale eating and hanging out at a couple Caribbean restaurants. I am a beach bum too so Miami Beach or any beach up the coast suites me well.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my kids Kaylee, Ryely, Christopher & Kaydence. My love Maarifa. My brother Duane as well as my mom and uncle Brian both RIP.
