We had the good fortune of connecting with Rikki Heiken and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rikki, how does your business help the community?
When I started Sweat Studio, my main goal was to make people feel better. Feel better in their own bodies, no matter what shape or size. I want each and every client to feel strong and confident. I have seen transformations in bodies and in confidence levels and that makes me most happy. My community of clients come together every morning and motivate each other. They take the couple of minutes before class to chat, build each other up and cheer each other on. During class we hear the woo’s and the clapping and in those moments we come together as a community. A community that is getting stronger together. A community that is pushing our bodies past our comfort zones. A community that walks out of my studio feeling better than they did when they walked in.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sweat Studio is a boutique group fitness studio. We offer 50 minute classes with up-beat music, motivating and energetic instructors, using mostly your own body weight. Our classes are designed to strengthen and lengthen your muscles for long lean lines. We have faced challenges along the way, the most current is the coronavirus pandemic. We have adapted the best we can to each curve ball thrown our way. With the global shutdown closing our doors, we quickly started streaming our classes online for our clients. It is important to stay in a positive mindset when faced with challenges. Its the only way you are able to make smart and clear decisions. You must always adapt and survive.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
We are big fans of Juice & Java. Delicious healthy food, I could eat there every day!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My community deserves all the credit to my success. This journey would be nothing without them. They are the reason I open every morning. Over the last two years, my community has grown little by little. We welcome newbies every single day. I love when I see my current clients welcome a new client and give them a little pep talk before class. When anyone enters a new space it can be intimidating, I am happy I have created a space where my community can welcome new people with open arms and make them feel comfortable.
