We had the good fortune of connecting with Roberta Caputo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roberta, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Although I was the top producer at my previous jobs—most notably at Corning Glass Works and Jaco Electronics—I knew my destiny was ultimately in my employers’ hands. While I was earning a great income, I also realized it was only a fraction of the revenue I was generating for them. It became clear that it was time for me to branch out on my own. When I discovered the business brokerage industry, I never looked back. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!!!
What should our readers know about your business?
At Capital Business Solutions, our focus is on helping business owners and buyers achieve their goals—whether that’s selling their business for the best possible price or guiding buyers to find the right investment opportunities. What sets us apart is our commitment to a personalized approach. We understand that every business is unique, and every owner has different objectives and concerns. We take the time to truly understand their needs and work alongside them through every step of the process—from valuation to final sale.
I’m particularly proud of the relationships we build with our clients. Being a trusted advisor is something that means a lot to me. It’s not just about closing a deal; it’s about ensuring our clients feel confident and supported in making some of the biggest decisions of their lives. We’ve been able to create a strong reputation for integrity and transparency, which has led to many referrals and repeat business, something I’m really proud of.
As for how I got to where I am today—business brokerage was not always the plan. I started in a different field, but I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. The shift into business brokerage came after I realized my passion for helping people achieve their business goals. There were definitely challenges along the way. The learning curve in understanding different industries, market fluctuations, and navigating the intricacies of every business deal can be daunting. But persistence is key. I learned to rely on my network, educate myself constantly, and lean on mentors who had already walked the path.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that business, much like life, is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s about building trust, staying patient, and always being prepared to pivot. You have to be adaptable in this industry because no two deals are alike. One of the most important things I’ve learned is to listen—truly listen—to both buyers and sellers. Understanding what drives them, what their concerns are, and what their long-term goals look like allows me to facilitate much better outcomes.
What I’d want the world to know about my story and my brand is that I genuinely care about the people I work with. I don’t see this as just a way to make a living, I see it as a chance to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. Whether it’s helping someone retire with the financial security they’ve earned or helping a new entrepreneur achieve their dream of business ownership, I find a lot of fulfillment in that. Every day presents a new opportunity to learn, grow, and serve, and that’s what keeps me excited about this work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our glorious ocean beaches, restaurants and varied entertainment venues in the Palm Beaches, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, to name a few.
