Meet Romaine Brown | aka Luigi Society – Producer, Event Coordinator, Artiste Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Romaine Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luigi Society, how do you think about risk?
I’ve always said that if you don’t take risks, you will always work for the person who does. I worked in the Banking industry for over 10 years and if I didn’t decide to take the risk of going on my own; starting my Record Label, while still managing popular Dancehall artiste Munga Honorable, and executing my numerous events – Daybreak, Allure, Best Weekend Ever, Cross DI Wataz, I would have never garnered as much success as I have today because of the many work constraints..

Since I resigned from the Bank, I have scored multiple chart topping songs on iTunes Reggae Charts in America and other countries all around the world, I have been able to execute my event, Daybreak Breakfast Party successfully in Florida, Atlanta & New York and now looking to take on the Canadian market, all while still managing Munga Honorable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a as the topic says – a creative; a producer who creates music and an event coordinator who creates concepts for events and execute them in the most premium form possible. With music creation, I always aim to interconnect our local artistes with global ones. With challenges of music saturation in Jamaica and heavy focus on only Youtube, I have channelled my energy into the importance of digital distribution and streaming through my multiple international collaborations with artistes from Europe, Chile and the United States of America, I have scored global features with Latin artistes such as El Shaaki, SFDK, Mala Rodriguez, FyahBwoy, as well as European artistes such as Kalibwoy and Bokoesam, all of which I have paired with Dancehall artistes such as Demarco, ReniGAD, Charly Black and Beenie Man just to name a few.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Qubans Hydeout – Hellshire, Portmore, Jamaica – A Restaurant right on the shores of the beach that provides a variety of seafood choices and beverages.

Margarita Ville – Ocho Rios, Saint Anns Bay, Jamaica – A very popular beach and pool facility that also has a restaurant with numerous choices of food and beverages

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dancehall artistes Benzly Hype and Munga Honorable both played a critical role in my early musical developments, as well as my peers from the promotional entity – Portmore Society to which I am still apart of to this day. It was our increasing popularity since we started the group in February 2007 that propelled me into event coordination & execution.
