We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronnie Hartfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ronnie, how do you think about risk?
i love risks, it defines me more than anything, coincidently my instagram handle used to be “Risk It All Ron”. I’m very fond of the term ” Do It Scared”, its the thing that drives me, if the risk isn’t high enough and i don’t have butterflies in my stomach before i make the decision then i likely am not that passionate about whatever it is, but if i’m nervous and i’m calculating every thing that can possibly go wrong then i know that i’m on the right and tha my “calculated risk” is worth the shot.
Risk taking is… well … risky, This past spring i hosted the biggest event ive done so far, i wanted my original team with me but the risks were very high and they chose not to move forward with it. Instead of giving up i bet on myself and did it scared, actually i did it terrified. The work wasnt easy but in the end my risk paid off in a major way. My team ended up applauding me and telling me that this was the best decision for me and they were 100% right. Now i’m ready to roll the dice on myself again, lets just hope i don’t get snake eyes .. spoiler alert .. I won’t
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well, as of now i have my hands in a few bags, I’m Co Founder of “This Ain’t That’ along with 5 of my friends, we all live in the greater Orlando area and felt that all of the events going on were pretty much the same, so we decided to take matters in our own hands and switch it up. We host Trivia parties that are for the culture, Nickelodeon Nights, Black Wall Street and so many other amazing events that are like no other. I would love to say that doing these events were easy but they werent they took time, effort and teamwork, i will say that it came naturally to me because of my upbringing.
I’m also a newly Radio Personality at 98.5 The Wire in Orlando, as a lover of music and a former podcast host i feel this will be a breeze but my first show is literally tomorrow and i feel those butterflies creeping in.
I’m also a playlist curator, with over 300 different playlist on each streaming network i pretty much have something for everyone, i started off doing it for myself but after a while my friends demanded me to share them now i have over 5000 followers.
When people see me or one of my brands i want them to associate it with a good time, its why i call myself The Vibe Dealer, no matter what i do i want it to be “A Vibe” but with being such a fun loving person you run into people who either want to tear you down or steal your vibe, this has happened to me so now i am weary of who i share things with. ‘
All in all i just want people to know that this lifestyle that i am creating isnt just a fad, its here to stay and here for everyone to join.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Welcome to Orlando
Soon as i pick them up from the airport we head over for some good food, lets say its midday when he arrives so likely we would hit International Drive area, hit up “Tin Roof” which has live music good food and some decent drinks, its also next to The Orlando Eye” which is our ferris wheel that you can see throughout the city.
Being that our town is a tourist town most of my friends want to hit the attractions and what better person to do it with than me. I literally grew up a Disney Kid with my mom working there since the 70s so there is anything i havent done theme park wise because i also worked at universal, so during the week we hit those places up, with plenty of drinks and shopping in between at our many outlets.
Now if its one thing i love is Orlando, we arent just going to be at the tourist areas all day, im going to take them to where im from “Pine Hills” and we will hit up some jamaican food spots like Negril, or some soul food from a gas station in Richmond Heights and you have to get some ice cream from Goffs.
When it comes to nightlife there is plenty to pick from we can go to Sol Cafe at Ember on friday night which plays all R&B, we might hit big daddy’s for karaoke or we might just vibe and head to Top Golf,
As for the weekend of course Brunch is a must and what better brunch to hit than our brunch which is “Brunch Dat Azz Up” where you can do a lil twerk at your table while eating your bacon.
Sunday’s we relax and might do something like a escape room, or just hit Corona Cigar lounge, but literally every day there is something new to do in our beautiful city, you just have to go out and find it and im the person you should be looking for
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
wow, where do i start? well i would be foolish not to start with my biggest cheerleader, my lady Anyoli, she’s the one who keeps those “risks” in check. My family no doubt, i’m a very musical person with lots of personality and i’m always ready to be front and center at the drop of a dime (even with those butterflies). i have some amazing friends who support me like crazy and i know without them this life thing would be a struggle, especially my “This Ain’t That” family.
Outside of the normal answers, i gain a lot of wisdom from those before me, be it Rick Ross, Diddy, Frank Sinatra, Maverick Carter or Clarence Avant these people amongst a host of others showed me the blueprint, i’ve studied them, seen their mistakes, their successes and learned what to and what not do.
