We had the good fortune of connecting with Debbie Dannheisser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Debbie , can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For nearly 20 years my career as an artist was painting art sold in galleries and by commission. In 2018, believing that wearable art created an avenue for women’s self expression, I created an experimental line of art designed clothing. Every piece of clothing – leggings, capris, skirts, tops, accessories – was and still are created from one of many of my original paintings. The response was nearly instantaneous. Our clients expressed feelings of joy, excitement and newly found confidence when they wore our clothing. Most women had never worn anything other than black leggings and found themselves feeling excited, expressed and with a real shift in how they saw and felt about themselves. With that confirmation we took the next step creating Debbie Dannheisser Threads. Our mission is supporting women in expressing and honoring themselves and feeling the joy and love within them in whatever shape or body type is theirs. We believe our clothing is unique and provides women a connection to their expression and empowerment.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Expression and Growth.  Life is about expression and growth.

Before becoming an artist and clothing designer I was a personal growth coach and seminar leader. Providing people with a path to their personal expression and growth was my passion.

Debbie Dannheisser Threads is a community of women all about women’s expression and growth. I am passionate about our beautiful designer clothing. Every brushstroke and every stitch is of passion and love.  I love the joy and excitement our clients experience when they wear our designs and feel the silky comfort. I love that every legging, capri and skirt are designed from one of my original paintings and I love that every day I am blessed to design clothing and create art that makes a difference for our client’s expression and growth.  For me that is what my career and work have always been about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sarasota is a paradise. I can’t believe I l get to live in a paradise. When my friends visit I take them to our beautiful waters and beaches. We visit art galleries and museums from the John and Mabel Ringling Gallery to the new Ringling Museum of Modern Art. Sometimes the captivating Selby Botanical Gardens – amazing gardens ! Then a martini at Flavio’s on Siesta Key, a beautiful sunset walk and an amazing dinner at Michael’s on East, Cafe Barbosa or Cafe Baci.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As I recognize,  acknowledge and appreciate the entire family and friends of Debbie Dannheisser Threads I most want to recognize the memory of our daughter Nicole to whom Debbie Dannheisser Threads is dedicated. Nicole died in 2018. She loved art, color and joy  but had struggled with sustaining and holding onto the joy in her life. Debbie Dannheisser Threads is dedicated to her memory and the commitment to support all women to share their unique expression and to the present each day to the  love, joy and beauty in their life.
