We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, how does your business help the community?
As an advocate and expert in community psychology and research, my consulting business is deeply committed to fostering significant and sustainable social change. At the core of our impact are several key areas, each vital in creating a more equitable, inclusive, and thriving community.
Firstly, advocating for community well-being and equitable change is at the forefront of my work. I aim to address systemic issues of oppression, along with health and social inequities. This approach is fundamental in helping communities become more inclusive and fair, ensuring everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
Another critical aspect of my consultancy is empowering individuals and families. With a solid background in community psychology and extensive experience in prevention, intervention, and treatment, my consultancy plays a crucial role in nurturing human potential. We help individuals and families overcome various challenges, promoting mental health and wellness, which is pivotal in building strong, resilient communities.
Moreover, my consultancy contributes significantly to the development of educational and clinical programs. These programs are meticulously designed to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of participants, leading to healthier communities capable of enduring and overcoming adversities.
Community leadership and mentoring form another vital component of our services. By offering leadership and mentoring, we guide individuals and organizations towards effective community involvement and change-making strategies. This not only helps in cultivating a generation of leaders committed to positive social impact but also fosters a culture of proactive community engagement.
In the sphere of advocacy, particularly for women and education, my role as President of the Women’s History Coalition of Miami and other leadership positions amplifies our focus on highlighting the narratives and contributions of women in history. Advocating for women’s rights and education empowers women and educates the broader community about the importance of gender equity, a crucial step towards societal balance.
Promoting mental health awareness and education is another area where my consultancy makes a significant impact. Through workshops, public speaking, and contributions to blogs and podcasts, I aim to elevate the conversation around mental health, offering valuable insights and practical tools for improving community mental health practices.
Enhancing communication and advocacy, especially through my work in various committees and commissions, targets improving communication strategies and advocacy efforts. This not only promotes social and health equity but also helps in weaving a more interconnected and understanding community fabric.
Lastly, my involvement in collaborative research and implementation of evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation programs contributes to the advancement of mental health treatment and prevention strategies. This research-driven approach ensures that our interventions and programs are grounded in proven methodologies, enhancing their effectiveness and impact.
In summary, my consulting business is unwaveringly committed to creating a fairer, healthier, and more equitable society. By empowering individuals, families, and communities, advocating for social and health equity, and enhancing educational and mental health initiatives, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing narrative of community transformation and betterment.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d ensure they experienced the essence of Miami’s charm and vibrancy. We’d start with a leisurely drive down the picturesque Old Cutler Road, taking in the lush scenery. One of our first stops would be the quaint People’s Dock near Deering Estate, where we’d enjoy the breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay.
Throughout the week, we’d explore some of Miami’s best spots. A day would be dedicated to Bill Baggs State Park, where we could rent family bikes and meander through the beautiful beachside trails, hoping for a clear view of the historic Stiltsville in the distance.
Our culinary journey would include diverse and exquisite local flavors. We’d dine at renowned eateries offering authentic Cuban cuisine, indulge in fresh seafood along the waterfront, and enjoy Miami’s vibrant nightlife with its array of bars and clubs.
A visit to the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) would be a cultural highlight. Here, we’d not only explore the impressive art collections but also relax on the expansive waterfront terrace, watching the rhythmic dance of cars on the bridge and boats on the Bay.
Throughout the week, we’d hang out at some of the city’s trendiest spots, from bustling street art districts like Wynwood to the serene beaches of Miami Beach. We’d also check out local markets, enjoy live music, and perhaps even join a dance class to truly immerse in Miami’s lively culture.
In my view, the most exciting aspects of Miami are its vibrant cultural tapestry, beautiful natural landscapes, and the dynamic fusion of art, history, and modern urban energy. From historical landmarks and natural parks to art galleries and lively street scenes, there’s an endless array of experiences that make Miami a unique and captivating destination.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my journey, there have been many influences and sources of inspiration, but one particularly deserving of credit and recognition is the Miami-Dade Commission For Women. Since my appointment to the Commission in 2017, it has been an invaluable pillar in my professional and personal growth.
The mentorship and guidance I received from the Commission have been instrumental in shaping my approach to community engagement and leadership. The Commission, through its diverse and dynamic membership, provided me with unique perspectives and insights that have significantly enriched my understanding of social issues and advocacy.
This experience has helped me foster deeper community connections, enabling me to make a more profound social impact. The lessons learned and the networks built during my time with the Commission have been fundamental in equipping me with the skills and confidence needed to lead and make meaningful contributions to the community.
The Commission’s commitment to addressing gender-related issues, promoting equality, and empowering women resonates deeply with my own values and goals. The collaborative and supportive environment of the Commission has not only bolstered my resolve to drive positive change but also highlighted the importance of solidarity and collective action in pursuit of a more equitable society.
In acknowledging the Miami-Dade Commission For Women, I recognize not just the organization but also the dedicated individuals who make up its membership. Their passion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women in our community have been a source of constant inspiration and motivation.
In summary, the Miami-Dade Commission For Women deserves a special shoutout for its pivotal role in my story. The mentorship, knowledge, and opportunities provided by the Commission have been fundamental in my journey, shaping my approach to creating impactful, positive change within the community.
