We had the good fortune of connecting with Royce Nelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Royce, what inspires you?
What inspires and motivates me is seeing how much this a cappella group has changed the lives of all of the members. We aren’t just a group of singers but an a cappella family. Many of us moved here not knowing anyone or some are from here but just really wanted that creative outlet. Treble in Paradise provides that for all of us. We help each other, we socialize together, and truly are friends and family. I’m so grateful for these individuals in my life and I see it every time we are together that they all feel the same way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a professional singer most of my life. I have fronted bands, sang and danced on cruise ships, hired for studio sessions with major artists, etc etc. Finding A Cappella later in my career provided a whole new set of challenges learning intricate harmonies, getting back to basics with reading sheet music, and dealing with many personalities and opinions. I loved it! When I realized after moving to South Florida that there was a big a cappella void here, I knew I needed to start my own group. There are many bands, singers who sing to tracks or a guitar, etc but zero a cappella which more than sets us apart! I am most proud of taking the first step! I had no idea what was going to come of this group, but I just decided to start. And here we are today; who knows what the future holds

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have done this a few times. Typically I show my friends downtown Fort Lauderdale, the beach, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, and eat lunch at Aruba up in Lauderdale-by-the Sea. Another day we head down to Miami and walk Little Havana, Lincoln Road. stop by the South Pointe Park, maybe Brickell too

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the past and present members of Treble In Paradise A Cappella
