We had the good fortune of connecting with RP Big Wes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RP Big, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up I was all about Football, my father played at the University of Alabama so football was always deeply rooted in me. My dream was always to play in the NFL but when I was in high school multiple injuries including knee surgery lead to me finding a passion in fashion & music. Artistic people ran in my family, my dad was actual a great artist and my older sister is an amazing artist.

I started off strictly doing fashion but as time went by I began making music because music is something that ive always loved and is the best way to express yourself in my opinion. Music is the true universal language

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a creator in general, I love art in all forms but my main focus is music. Ive always been into music but it became my life when I was in college.

Nothing good in life comes easy as people we all must face adversity and challenges but thats what makes success so beautiful. We as people must grow constantly and learn to navigate and complete different challenges in life. Ive learn so much along my journey its impossible to write but the biggest thing I can tell people is do right by other people and good things will come your way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Anytime someone visits Miami, South beach is the first place to take them. You can not beat the vibes and environment. I would take them to the Wynwood walls and to many different clubs and bars throughout the city. Including Liv on a sunday. We would go to Aventura mall and the designer district to shop.

Eating wise im a vegetarian so Id take them to a few vegan spots but for the most part id let them decided what they want to eat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First & foremost Id like to give all the glory to Yahweh! Nothing is possible without him. Id also like to give a shoutout to my family and my friends who have greatly impacted me and motivated me daily. My mom, both my sisters, Dj Acoff, Tommy, Leland, Chisom, Londondekko, Brooks, Jauwan, Tyus, Zay, Rickey, Nick, Casey, Alexis (Quality Que), Tashlin, are just a few people in my life who motivate me whether its from a distance or up close.

Id also like to shoutout Birmingham and the entire 205 aint nothing like home
