We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Hertel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When it came to being an entrepreneur and starting my own business, it was just something I felt was the only method to establish the freedom I wanted.
People will ask you to “imagine the life” that you would want, and that’s how you can help yourself decide what career path to take. I realized I loved helping people, building ideas, and being creative. So for me, starting a creative agency only made sense.
Now with Socialocca, I’m able to help develop and envision alongside other entrepreneurs that want to see their ideas come to life as well. I have the freedom to choose where I want to put my energy and spend my time outside of building.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As much as being an entrepreneur has been a business adventure for me, I have worked on branding myself as an individual the whole time as well. My personal brand has driven business success, as well as my own success.
The number one lesson than I figured out is to just stay true to who you are and capitalize on your strengths. Doing this has allowed me to just be me with what I do. People gravitate towards truthful and believable personalities. If I were to hide behind a façade every day, it would never feel natural or organic to others, and people instinctively recognize that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends visit, I enjoy exploring new places I haven’t been yet. The area has so much to offer, and oftentimes I enjoy the blind discovery of new attractions, restaurants, parks, markets, etc.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s funny to think back to the very beginning and recognize who have been your biggest supporters. I’ve surrounded myself with many entrepreneurial friends who I am able to speak with, bounce ideas off of, and go to for guidance when I really need it.
One of my best friends, Ali Abualbarak, has been a huge figure in helping me stay motivated and determined to find success.
