We had the good fortune of connecting with Nadly Belizaire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nadly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a business was never in my plan. My parents are immigrants from Haiti and they both worked 9-5 jobs. Although I went to college, I just imagined that I would be working 9-5 for someone, just like I saw my parents do. About 10 years ago, I got an idea, which I really believe came from God to start a private practice. Immediately, I was filled with doubt because no one in my immediate family has ever owned a business and I just did not know what to do. I did some research and even filed a company through the state of Florida but I was overwhelmed with what to do next, so I stopped. Although I stopped, I knew that I had to do something with the idea eventually. Fast forward to April of 2020, a good friend offered to have me join her practice as an independent contractor. I inquired if she would be willing to walk me through the business/administrative aspects of having a private practice and she agreed. One and a half years later, I launched my business, Peaceway Therapy.

What should our readers know about your business?
The name of the practice is Peaceway Therapy. I provide Telehealth counseling services throughout the state of Florida. I am a Christian counselor and offer additional tools and perspective from a faith standpoint. I am trained in Perinatal Mental Health and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am proud of myself for actually taking the step and launching the practice. It was not easy at all because I had to overcome a lot of self doubt. I even saw a therapist to help me navigate my thoughts and fears. I have learned many lessons:

-You can’t do it alone. Reach out to those who have done it before you or who have knowledge for guidance
-Believe and invest in yourself
-You can’t have it all figured out before you leap. Some things have to be learned or become clearer along the way.

My passion is in coming alongside people during the challenging moments in their lives and helping them find peace within. Being there for people initially started off as a gift from God but with education and ongoing training, I have become skilled in offering clinical support and interventions that are evidence-based and effective. I understand that no two people are alike so I tailor the treatment to the individual client’s needs. My specialties include but are not limited to maternal mental health, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, stress management, and family issues.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Listen, I live where most people go for vacation. I would definitely take them to a local Haitian restaurant (Chef Creole, Chez Madame Johns restaurant). I would recommend Havana Harry’s for delicious Cuban food, Shooters has an amazing brunch and view by the waterway. Donna’s offers tasty Jamaican food. They’d have to go to Aventura Mall for shopping and people watching. They can pick any beach in Las Olas, Sunny Isles, Hallandale or South Beach. Top Golf is a great place to have fun, eat good and hang out!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God for giving me an idea bigger than I could have imagined for myself My husband, Garry Belizaire, for believing in me.
My son, Liam Belizaire, for being my motivation
Aline-Vanya Guillaume, for taking the time to mentor me towards having my practice
I received so much encouragement and love from my biological sisters, Nancy Sarette and Netgie Yeldell and my sister’s in Christ, Patricia McPhoy and Rose Esther Jean-Gilles
I also want to recognize my own cheerleaders from my church small group. They always believed in me.
