Hi Safraz Abjal & Sarah Sukhram, how do you think about risk?

Risk has been an integral part of our lives and career paths, shaping who we are, and strive to be, despite the outcomes. It is of course nerve wrecking, rewarding, and sometimes, not always offering favourable results. With this, we have had the opportunities to learn and grow as individuals and business partners; a husband and wife duo.

We recognize that you have to take chances and accept the outcomes that risk brings, to truly distinguish what works for us and our growing business. I (Sarah) started my career path as a social worker, and Safraz had already been a professional in the wedding industry. With entrepreneurial upbringings, we both realized it was time to evolve and together we founded Elite Decor By S&S, based on taking the leap of faith. We know that risks can be a positive reinforcement to strengthen and challenge ourselves physically, emotionally, and mentally, in our life and career goals. This is especially fitting in an evolving industry of constant change. We both experienced the ups and downs that risk can generate, and with our own business, we’re both in for it!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

We are incredibly grateful of where we are today as Elite Decor By S&S. It has allowed us to build a future together, one that is meaningful, fulfilling, and driven by love. We immerse ourselves into the world of décor, floral, and design, with attention to detail to curate a one-stop shop elite experience for our couples. We believe that we cross paths with everyone for a reason. Creating authentic relationships based on trust, transparency, and commitment, are imperative in the process of being part of our client’s special day. We love to hear their stories about their journey in love and incorporate those moments in their wedding day through design. It’s important for our couples to enter into their wedding day swooning with love and pure joy.

We have come a long way from where we were and where we are now as entrepreneurs. Over the years, it took us a while to finally come to realization to work smarter not harder. We owe it to ourselves to know our worth, and to find the right balance between work and life to sustain a healthy lifestyle. And for that reason, we’re always looking for an opportunity to enjoy down time by jetting off to new places where adventure awaits!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Toronto is a hidden gem to add to your bucket list! It is truly one of the most multicultural places to visit. Specifically, downtown Toronto has a lot to offer. First, we’d suggest this friend to explore different cultures through food. There are cute restaurants that offer cultural experience with their ambiance, decor, and sometimes entertainment. If this friend is not afraid of heights, the CN Tower is a must! Day or night, you can appreciate the most remarkable skyline of Toronto with their panoramic 360 view. To unwind, we would definitely recommend a day to relax at Hammam Spa for an incredible retreat experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our families, 100%! We are very fortunate to have our families as our #1 mentors in our lives. They have generously shared their time, knowledge, efforts, and support especially throughout our entrepreneurial adventure. We have always been challenged in ways that allow us to strive towards our goals and sometimes the unimaginable! Their guidance, love, and encouragement is undoubtedly irreplaceable, and truly appreciated as we continue our journey as Elite Decor By S&S.
