We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam and Pete Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam and Pete, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We have been music creators for most of our professional careers. So it made sense to start a company that reinforced what we were already doing: Creating music, and sharing it with the world. Between the two of us, we have the knowledge to sit with an artist, and take them through the creative process of writing a song, producing it, and releasing their song on all digital platforms worldwide. With the help of our talented music team, we are also able to get some of the best musicians in the country playing on those records. So we thought, why not bring all this talent under one roof, and make it easier for the artist to get to their final product.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Pen To Platinum is a full, in-house songwriting and production company. So we basically write songs with/for artists, take them through the production process, and release it to the world! Most studios have one or two pieces of the puzzle, but we’re really proud of the fact that we have the capability to do it all in one place. We both grew up with musical backgrounds, so songwriting and production have been a part of our musical careers for over 20 years. Although songwriting can be a very personal thing, depending on the type of artist, we really take pride in the fact that we give 110% to each artist and really want them to feel like they have walked away with a piece of their heart in their hands, and can now share that with the world. It’s not always easy! But that’s the beauty of songwriting: It will be different and new every time, and no 2 songs will be the same.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is…let’s just say…interesting! I (Sam) grew up on Miami Beach (literally on the beach, almost every weekend) and loved every minute of it. And if you ask anyone, Miami is not Miami Beach, and Miami Beach is not Miami! However, they both have their diamonds. So, I’d say an ideal week here would be getting a room at a hotel (on the beach of course), preferably on a “quieter” part of town like Surfside, and enjoying the ocean for most of the day. Pete and I are also big foodies, so it would be all about breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some spots to hit on Biscayne Blvd. would be Moshi Moshi, Andiamo Pizza, and Blue Collar. Not too far away is Beaker and Gray on N. Miami Ave., also really good! Music also has it’s place in this city, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, most places are just starting to open up again. Then there’s always the beautiful art on the walls in the Wynwood District, or the Perez Art Museum with fantastic views of the Port of Miami. These are just a few places to see while in town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A BIG thank you to all of the people in our lives that have led us to where we are today. From mentors, to close friends, to family: we wouldn’t be where we are without your love and constant support. We especially want to thank a special friend who is no longer with us, but will always remembered as an extraordinary musician, Dan Warner. We love you and miss you.
