We had the good fortune of connecting with Samson Bakare and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samson, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I discovered early in life that the antidotes to stagnation, whether in career or business is to risk it all. Most of the times we are clueless as humans, not knowing the rewards nor detriments that comes with the next decision.I started as a painter but at some points I decided to evolve because of have the passion for sculpture and fashion designing. It was hard to combine all at the same time because the market demand for sculpture isn’t as high as paintings. I had lots of sleepless nights trying to harness the multiple skills in me. I worked extra to be identified as a multidisciplinary artist.I did it naive , I did it afraid, I did it weak but I did it anyways.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In a bid to interpret the relationship between individuality and existentialism I made subjects that are portrayal of dark toned bodies with dynamic flowery background. I array my semi-figurative subjects in brilliant colours, making an audible aesthetic statement. My work is characterized by protruding eyes, distinctively detailed iris and Pupil.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We start with a lunch at golden gate Chinese restaurant on Monday . On Tuesday we to the GET arena for car racing. On Wednesday we go shopping at Ikeja city mall. Thursday we go to Mako club .
