We had the good fortune of connecting with Sergio Castillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sergio, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The story behind Goodlife Miami started back in 2006. It was started by myself and my brother, Isaac “DJ Isaac Icecold”, officially in 2008. We started promoting nightclubs and events 2 years prior. It took us two years to really take it serious and decide we would make it into a business. He was already djing at multiple venues, and I recently lost my job during the whole banking crisis. It was never the plan to launch our own business, but once the opportunity fell into our lap, we took advantage and made it work!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a promotion company with lots of ideas and plans. This is a passion project as well as a business, so there is so much we want to do with it, but we take our time to do it strategically. Getting to where we are now was definitely not easy. We actually stopped and closed the business in 2019, luckily right before Covid hit. There were many lessons that we learned along the way that contributed to our growth, success and failures. We want the world to know that living the “Goodlife” is not just about success, but the journey as well. Living the “Goodlife” to us means, that you get to do what you love. We love music, parties, people and anything we can do to contribute or bring people along for the ride.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in Miami and South Florida in general. I love the sunsets in South Florida, and there are so many places to enjoy it here. The one place we will definitely visit is the Hard Rock “Guitar” Hotel in Hollywood, FL. There is much to do, including celebrating at their nightlife destination, DAER Nightclub and Dayclub. If you haven’t visited yourself, it’s slice of paradise.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We could not have done it without our initial team members, influencers and founders. Venues such as Club Space, Nocturnal, Flavour, Cameo, Mansion, are a few of our first partnerships that contributed to our success. Isaac and Sergio Castillo, the co-founders. A special shout out to the late, Jahir “Rockstar Jay” Lavastida, who is the one who pushed for the name, “Goodlife”, because of his obsession with the “Good Life” song by Kanye West in 2007.
