We had the good fortune of connecting with Shani Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shani, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Beautiful Exchange TV was born during the pandemic, in a moment where the world felt heavy and disconnected and I noticed that so many women, including myself, were craving a space where we could be seen, heard, and supported without having to be perfect.

My thought process was simple but deeply personal: What if we created a platform where storytelling was sacred? Where women didn’t have to be famous to be valued?

I didn’t just want to start a business I wanted to build a safe space. A space where real stories meet real purpose. I knew I had a passion for hosting and connecting, and I believed that when women come together and share their truth, transformation follows.

So, Beautiful Exchange TV became a space for community, healing, growth, and faith-filled conversations. I started with what I had my voice, my vision, and a heart for impact and trusted God with the rest.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Beautiful Exchange TV is more than a brand it’s a movement. It’s a storytelling platform and podcast rooted in sisterhood, faith, healing, and truth. What sets us apart is that we don’t just highlight women’s success we honor their process. We amplify the voices that often go unheard, and we remind women that their story is valuable even if it’s still unfolding.

The thing I’m most proud of is the impact it’s made, both online and offline. Watching women share their stories and then receive messages from strangers saying, “You gave me hope,” or “I saw myself in you,” that’s the kind of influence I prayed for when I started.

It definitely hasn’t been easy. I built this while working, grieving, and figuring out what it means to walk in purpose without a blueprint. I’ve had moments of doubt, exhaustion, and silence. But what kept me going was knowing that this was bigger than me. That God had entrusted me with a space for women to breathe, speak, and be seen.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency in purpose will outlast perfection. And that if you build it with intention, the right people will find it even if you start with little.

What I want the world to know about Beautiful Exchange TV is that it’s built on love, faith, and legacy. It’s not about likes it’s about lives. It’s about creating space for women to show up whole, and to be reminded that there’s always a beautiful exchange when we come together.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend Amy visited me in Tampa, I knew I wanted to give her the perfect mix of chill, adventure, and intentional girl time. We had the best time creating memories that were equal parts fun and soul-filling.

We started with brunch at Oxford Exchange one of my favorite spots. The vibe is cozy, elevated, and perfect for catching up over great food. Then we walked along Bayshore Boulevard, taking in the view, talking life, dreams, and everything in between.

One of our favorite days was spent at Disney Springs. We shopped, laughed, and ate like queens. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re on vacation without ever leaving the state.

Of course, we explored downtown Tampa strolling the Riverwalk, grabbing drinks at Armature Works, and soaking in the city lights. It felt like a scene straight out of a movie.

We also made time to rest one night was all about candles, comfy clothes, good food, and real talk. The kind of night that reminds you why friendship is everything.

If you’re ever in Tampa, don’t sleep on the beach either we headed to Clearwater for a peaceful day in the sun and came back feeling brand new.

Tampa showed out for Amy’s trip, and it reminded me that with the right people, anywhere can feel like home

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s no way I could take credit for my journey without honoring the women who helped shape it. My biggest shoutout goes to my mother and grandmother, two powerful, faith-filled women who showed me what strength, grace, and perseverance truly look like.

My grandmother instilled in me the importance of education, faith, and community. She taught me that your voice matters, even if it shakes and that how you show up for others can change everything.

My mother, who carried so much on her back with quiet strength, taught me how to love deeply, move with integrity, and trust God even when the path isn’t clear.

I also want to recognize the women who have journeyed with me through Beautiful Exchange TV those who have shared their stories, trusted me with their truth, and reminded me every day why this platform matters.

This work isn’t just mine it’s ours. And I’m forever grateful for the love, wisdom, and sisterhood that have made every step possible.
