We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanice Ragland and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was mainly my children. I absolutely had no idea that I would be running a kid spa just never thought that far. When I had my twin girls so much changed, my perspective of life changed I knew when I thought about my kids I just think of them being straight forever but when not leave a mark on everyone if you can. My objective for my business is to reach every little girl who don’t have the outlet to be a princess society tells us that only adults deserve this treatment (spa sessions) (me time) when all in all if it’s taught early the younger generation would understand how fundamental it is to take care of yourself

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I think what sets me apart from other business is I cater to the children, when you generally think about a spa you immediately think adults. However we have changed the narrative of things. That itself sets us apart. I’m most proud of the fact that I believed it could be done even when I didn’t see nothing like what I was doing around. So I did my own research I seen something that I wanted for my children and for others and went for it.

I got to where I am now business wise from staying consistent, I’m still learning consistency when it comes to my business. I say that because it’s so easy to feel defeated while doing your own business when staying focused and determined is a must. None of this was easy from talking to different insurance companies trying to get them to understand my vision to being told one price on a good space and hopes just dropping because you seen a vision at another spot but now we have to use an entire different spot I faced so many obstacles but I never stopped. I overcame the challenges by staying down remembering why I started seeing the light at the news of the tunnel. It’s still so much more I have to learn, these are the things that your only going to learn when it is right in front of you. So I’m looking forward to what’s next.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way is staying disclaimed it’s so important to stay consistent with anything regarding business

I want the world to know that in order for us to have children who understand how important they are to the world we must show them the luxury of things early. Just think how many times you treat yourself to something you feel is for your mental health. Whether it be a day for shopping a pedicure date a spa date whatever your heart desire, remember you have someone looking up to you that deserves that peace of mind just like you and we now have a kid spa outlet for our children to still feel young at heart but beautiful while doing it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the town for a week a few go tos would be MxA kid spa one day and it simply be because I could imagine doing this life thing without my kids so to drop by the kid spa in town next time we would bring our girls, next so good food would be Olive Garden in short pump because that’s my favorite. We would grab Ben and jerry ice cream because I love a ice cream date and the other days we would stay tuned for any events listed

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to my husband he definitely deserves a little credit and recognition in my story because he took on a major sacrifice and he really doesn’t know how much it meant to me
