Meet Shawnette ‘Lisa’ Patterson-Lewis | CEO & Founder of Scarlett Rose Health & Wellness | Nurse Practitioner | Community Leader

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawnette ‘Lisa’ Patterson-Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shawnette ‘Lisa’, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Scarlett Rose Health & Wellness was truly a culmination of both personal and professional experiences. After being in healthcare for over two decades, I had the privilege of caring for transplant patients, working with diverse communities, and seeing firsthand the power of holistic care. But I also recognized a gap: many people struggle to find accessible, compassionate care that truly prioritizes their overall well-being.
As a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, I wanted to create a space where people could not only heal but thrive. Scarlett Rose Health & Wellness is a tribute to my late mother, Carol Scarlett-Patterson, whose love and care for others inspired me every day. Oh, how she loved roses. She was a caregiver at heart, and I wanted to honor her legacy by offering a practice where health and wellness come together in a personalized, nurturing way.
By offering comprehensive care – from IV Vitamin Hydration and Medically Supervised Weight Loss Programs to Men’s Health, and Primary Care, I am able to make a meaningful impact in the community. I am able to give my clients not just treatments, but an experience that centers around their unique needs. I wanted to build something that’s not just about health, but about empowering people to live their best lives physically, mentally, and emotionally. Scarlett Rose is more than a business; it’s a family, a community, and a reflection of my commitment to giving back and improving lives.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Building Scarlett Rose Health & Wellness has been a journey of faith, trust, and surrounding myself with the right people. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve learned that success isn’t just about money—it’s about touching lives and making a genuine difference. My vision for this practice was never just to build a business; it was to create a place where people can heal, grow, and thrive. The heart of Scarlett Rose is not just in the services we offer, but in the relationships we build with our clients and the care we provide.
I’ve always believed that you have to trust God’s timing and surround yourself with those who uplift and inspire you. There have been moments where doubt crept in, and the road seemed impossible, but I kept my faith and stayed true to my purpose. With every challenge I’ve faced, I’ve grown stronger: learning the importance of perseverance, patience, and knowing that not everything happens on our timeline. Success, in the end, is about the impact you make, not just the profits you earn.
Along the way, I’ve learned that surrounding yourself with the right crowd is critical. It’s not just about building a network for the sake of networking, but about being intentional with the people you align yourself with: people who genuinely care about your growth and support you, both professionally and personally. My team and the mentors I’ve had have been integral to my journey. Their belief in me has fueled my own belief in what Scarlett Rose can be.
To me, the true measure of success is in the lives we touch, the stories we help write, and the positive change we foster in our community. It’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of business, but when you focus on the bigger picture… making a difference, uplifting others, and staying true to your mission… everything else falls into place.
What I want the world to know about Scarlett Rose Health & Wellness is that we are more than just a wellness center. We are a family, a community, and a place where every person who walks through our doors knows they are valued. It’s a place where transformation happens… not just physically, but emotionally and mentally as well.
Above all I have learned that when I put God first and trust Him completely—even when I don’t understand the path—He always leads me exactly where I’m meant to be. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” [Proverbs 3: 5-6].

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited the area for a week, I would take them downtown. We’d start by checking out the Wynwood Walls, exploring the vibrant street art scene. For lunch, we’d grab a bite at one of the food trucks or local spots like Coyo Taco for some authentic Mexican flavors. We’d spend an afternoon in Brickell City Centre, shopping and sipping coffee at one of the upscale cafes. Then, we’d head to Bayside Marketplace for some waterfront shopping and live music. One evening, we’d enjoy dinner at Zuma, a trendy Japanese restaurant along the water, followed by drinks at a rooftop bar like Area 31. On a quieter day, we’d visit Perez Art Museum Miami and stroll through Bayfront Park for a relaxed vibe. To wrap up the week, we’d catch the sunset at South Pointe Park and have seafood at Joe’s Stone Crab for an unforgettable Miami experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to the four most important people in my life: my mother, Carol Scarlett-Patterson, my father Jeff Patterson my brothers Tony and Michael Patterson. These four individuals are the heart and soul of who I am today, and their love, wisdom, and strength have shaped me in ways I can never fully express.
My mom, Carol, was the driving force behind everything I do. She was the kind of woman who made everyone feel seen and heard. Her selflessness and ability to love unconditionally were unmatched. She had a quiet strength that I admired every single day of my life. My mother was the embodiment of grace, and I can still feel her presence guiding me in everything I do. Scarlett Rose Health & Wellness is not just my business… it’s a living tribute to her. This practice exists because of the lessons she taught me, and every patient I see, every person I help, is a reflection of her enduring spirit. I dedicate every success and every milestone to her memory.
My father has always been my foundation. His wisdom, practical approach to life, and quiet confidence gave me the courage to chase my dreams. He taught me that no matter how hard life gets, there’s always room to keep pushing forward. And we can’t forget his ability to put his foot in a meal! My brothers and I will never stop going by his house on a Sunday afternoon to get a plate! From him, I learned the power of patience and perseverance, and his steady support has been my anchor through it all.
And of course, my brothers Tony and Michael: they have been my constant source of strength, laughter, and encouragement. There were countless nights when we sat together and they reminded me of my worth, even when I doubted myself. They have been my biggest cheerleaders and their support has been unwavering, no matter what life throws our way. My brothers are people who believe in me without question and they push me to be better.
Without the love, support, and lessons from these four incredible people, Scarlett Rose wouldn’t exist. They are my heart, and everything I do is in honor of them.
