We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheena Eizmendiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheena, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I believe the idea behind work-life-balance is an evolving definition. Work-life balance is an important aspect of a healthy work environment while at the same time, finding fulfillment in ones life whether you work at home, out on the field or at an office. For me, it wasn’t always that way. I used to work 10 hour days in my business during the first 14 years of my career. I was a machine. I would see over 9-10 clients a day for 1 hour sessions each. Most days, I skipped lunch and I was the last one to leave the office when it was already dark outside. I had no clue what it meant to be flexible. I think flexible is more import than balance. After all, being flexible has helped me to decrease stress, make fewer mistakes and feel more satisfied with my own life. I think It’s different from the old idea of seeking a balance, which tends to treat work and life as two conflicting opposites. In fact, they are both very much intertwined. It all depends how you manage each of them. Both are equally as important. I’ve learned that in order for me to be the best at whatever I do, be it in my business or my personal life, I have to find ways in which I feel I have met both with equilibrium and achievement. It is absolutely essential when it comes to leading a happy and productive lifestyle. I’m now going into my 22 years as an entrepreneur and it doesn’t necessarily get easier, but it definitely helps to find a happy medium since I’ve been working from home making the best out of technology. I get to work virtually with incredible companies globally and coach individuals via Zoom and phone from the comfort of my home office. This helps my clients too because they get to work on themselves while driving, sitting on the couch or in front of their computers. Less stress and hassle. More me time, more time for them too. I get to focus more on my health and wellbeing so I can continue to serve as the best possible version of myself.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have over 22 years of experience working with an extensive client list including CEOs of multi-billion dollar companies and political leaders. Bestselling author of “Path of Emergence: From Loss to Triumph,” A Corporate Trainer and Keynote Speaker on the topics of emotional intelligence, stress, leadership, and positive psychology. I provide organizations and entrepreneurs a personalized solution through my coaching programs and leadership development skills by helping individuals stay free of distractions and remain focused on their goals, success and profitability. My foundation is in Clinical Hypnosis and NLP- Neuro-Linguistic Programming. My diverse and comprehensive background is what sets me apart and provides a solid bedrock in my work as a high performance leader and an expert in shifting mindsets. I’m very excited about the future of organizations. I believe that more and more companies are understanding the value in education and trainings for their teams. The workforce has changed drastically and I foresee even bigger changes to come in the near future with more remote working and other technologies at the forefront. I know this will help both the leaders and employees whom I coach. The ladder to success isn’t always easy. We all begin at the bottom. How far we go depends on many factors. Mostly, it depends on ourselves. I know this because I was only 23 years old when I started my business. I was a recently divorced mother of two small children. I had no business experience or knowledge. I had to learn by falling down many times at first, It humbled me and I am grateful for that. I grew from the very mistakes I was making. There were times I wanted to quit, but I knew that quitting wasn’t an option. I had to keep going no matter what. It was that mindset that helped me get where I am today.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Miami has a lot of diversity and because of that, there is something for everyone. You have the beaches along the coastline. I am a beach person, any excuse to go to the beach. We are fortunate to live in a state with such great weather all year round. There are great restaurants and galleries one can visit just about anywhere in Miami. Some of my favorite spots are in Design District, and Wynwood area. Downtown Miami is also a highlight for many locals and tourists. There is never a dull moment if you live here. Something for everyone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I strongly believe it takes a village to climb any mountain. I have to attribute a great part of my success to all of the wonderful people that have crossed my path. Whether these are mentors, educators, trainers, friends, clients and family. Each have played an integral part of my learning and accomplishments. Particularly, one person I can always think of very quickly, is my father. He is a very wise man. He influenced me to read a lot of books when I was very young. He taught me to question everything. My dad is a person of a lot of integrity and has very defined values. He has always supported all my dreams and has been there through each of my failures, making sure I figure out a way to get back up. I thank him for that. He allowed me to always be who I needed to be.
