We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelley Siller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelley, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in California and grew up in Cape Coral, FL, and it gave me warm blood! I loved getting to grow up in a place where people vacation. There’s a relaxed attitude and way of life in Florida that I’ve brought with me everywhere else I’ve lived, and that mindset has helped carry me through stressful situations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the front woman and creator of the band Shelley Star and The Galaxy. We are a pop/rock band with ABBA, Lady Gaga, and classic rock of the 70’s and 80’s as our biggest influences. I wanted a place to get to perform every type of art I know how to do, from singing to songwriting to dancing to choreographing to costuming to makeup and set design, so I envisioned that space and brought it to life. It’s impossible to do something like this alone so I’ve collected an incredible team of other artists working at the top of their various crafts to be a part of the process. Working together and getting inspired by their creativity is what I find to be the most rewarding. Finding other people who share your passion is crucial to the success and longevity of any project! What sets us apart is our attention to the “extra” details of the show that sometimes get lost with local bands. Props, matching costumes, makeup, dancers and choreography, all of the things I learned how to make growing up in the dance studio.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is don’t lose momentum when you have a big dream! Each thing you accomplish should lead to the next, building on each step. Always reach out, ask for what you want, and FOLLOW UP. Comedian Tom Lawrinson once said “Nobody is looking for you; you have to bring what you have to them”, and I think about this advice all the time.
I love performing more than anything, and I am striving to put on the most incredible show for my audience. I am so excited to share my project with the world!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hyde Beach baby! Nothing like a pool party 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing mom, Theresa Corbley Siller! She is a prolific author, talented dancer and dance teacher, my biggest inspiration and cheerleader. Both she and my dad Richard Siller gave me every tool needed to succeed as an artist and human being with their love and support, and driving me to every arts lesson known to man! Dance classes, voice lessons, guitar lessons, gymnastics, horseback riding, acting class, you name it! They are true saints. You can find Theresa’s collected works on Amazon, Kindle, or wherever you get your books!
