Meet Shemele Villiers | CEO of Lataurruss

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shemele Villiers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shemele, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well my Thought process was just like any 22year old, well for me mostly what do you want to do for the rest of your life, Think of something different that nobody is doing right now, so I thought of clothing, I know, I know a lot of people are going to say but EVERYBODY DOES CLOTHING as a business, and you’re right. But my clothing line was different in my eyes, So about 1year later me and my cousin wanted to get away for a couple of days, there was a lot going on in are life and we wanted to relax and feel stress free. So we when on a cruse to the Bahamas. We had a amazing time, So there’s one Thing I left out was my Cousin had Cancer around this time. see she had ovarian cancer she did beat the cancer at one point but it came back, and I had relationship problems, you know how that goes lol, So you know we needed that vacation. So one day we was having breakfast and I was telling my cousin we should start a business together, she was really happy about doing the business, so I told her we should do a petite clothing line, I’m not talking about Hight. I’m talking about size, When it come to small women, we are not getting payed attention as much, and my cousin thought it was a good idea, So right when we go back to Fort Lauderdale we stated coming up with different ides on what type of clothing we should do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When it come to my clothing line Lataurruss it means the world to me, me and my cousin Kherissa wanted to start a business back in 2017. We came up with and idea of doing a petite clothing line for a tiny women. around the time of when we was talking about starting a clothing line my cousin had cancer. She had a before but it went away but it came back. on July 23, 2020 my cousin passed away. it was really hard for me, cause I us to tell my cousin (We are going to be so successful and I’m going to get the best doctor for you. I told her everything is alright. We didn’t talk about the business that much, because I just wanted to spend as much time I could with her, But I always kept her posted on everything. I miss her so much. So when it come to Lataurruss it’s my everything. Lataurruss is a petite clothing line for Skinny women like me. In my opinion nobody really pay attention to tiny women. it’s not only about Hight, it’s about size to. their are women in this world that are a size 000 or 3xsmall. now when I go shopping it’s very hard for me because sometime they don’t have my size, or the size is not right at all. So for me I’m a size 00 or xsmall. when I’m looking for clothing I can’t fine those sizes, and if I do I might have to go to the Junior section or get my clothing altered, Witch is a problem for me. I want to be able to look sexy in what I have on. I don’t want to look like a Child. So we decided to start a clothing line for tiny women. Their a lot that I’ve learn from my business. Just understanding that it’s a lot of work and there are a lot of things you have to get done. The most Challenging part with the business was looking for the right manufacture to make your clothing right and being able to understand your vision. The most excited thing about this business is that I’m learning so much about Fashion it’s so amazing to me. Just to be able to understand there are million of different fabric out there. So much ideas a person can come up with when it comes to clothing. Fashion is like art to me. Being able to have your own type of idea on what you would want the clothing to look like. being able to pick out the type of fabric you want. adding different colors. Adding different images. Everybody has there own type of style and I want my clothing like to have a style where your FREE. The hardest Challenge is to keep pushing forward and never giving up, so much has happen in my life that sometime I want to stop. But I just think to myself about, what would my cousin do. She fought 4years of cancer, so why can’t I keep fighting. I try my best to keep my head up and keep on pushing forward. Lataurruss mean so much to me it’s not just a business to me it’s my baby, my life. God has given me so much Gift’s. But this is the only one I would push and work the hardest for. The lessons I learn along the way was there are a lot of people doing what you are doing, But there is nothing like Lataurruss, Lataurruss is a company that will let you feel Beautiful. Sexy, Magnificent, Amazing and comfortable as well. I would want to world to know, I DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT YOU. God has a plan for me. when it’s the right time, God is going to show me something that is amazing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take her to the Zoo, Beach, art show, aquarium. There was a time on my Birthday my Friend took me to a Ice cream tour. That was the best time of my life. They had different room’s, with different types of color. So one room was a train station. witch was really cool. in the train station they had different type of ice cream on the walls, and every room we got a different type of ice cream to taste. Then there was a long slide that was fun, It was a great experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my Mentor Miss, Bells. She taught me a lot when it comes to running a business, and what step to take, She taught me how to understand it’s okay to love, it’s okay to let go of things, to be happy.

I would love to give a shoutout to a Great Friend Meyers, She taught me how to not let anybody take advantage of my love for them, and my love is not for everybody. She taught me how to open up a little more.
