We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherrieka Othello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherrieka, how does your business help the community?

In my community, embracing indivuduality and pursing their passions can be a challenge so we help the world by igniting the fire within creatives and entrepreneurs to pursue these dreams and not let the ideologies of today’s society, stop them.

We provide tangible tools that allow personal growth for individualism and creativity. This world needs the gifts of each creative and entrepreneur and we will not stop until they each have exactly what they need to achieve that. Our business makes sure that their voices matter, their ideas matter, their passions matter.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

We provide specialized custom content for our cultivators, artistry workshops, empowering creative events and we even sell inspiring tees. What sets us apart from other businesses is our passion as creatives ourselves and the devotion to switch the narrative about artists and entrepreneurs. The mission is to break cycles and be as vociferous and daring with our expression through our work. This company was created at the peak of a pandemic, which alone signifies strength and rebellion. Along with many accomplishments this year, starting this one is our proudest. We have had quite a few challenges down the road but, from each lesson we learn. One of the many, is to stand our ground no matter what. We strive to make a positive difference in the commuity and teach others to set their own standards. We are excited to see what we will accommplish as we grow as a company and those we influence in the process.

We want the world to know that this brand inspires, empowers, molds creatives to be their best selves in their own element. We help creatives of all sorts to cultivate from the ground up, starting from whats inside so that their artistry projects reflect their truest passions. We need the world to understand that we are redefining creative expression by changing the mindset of who can be considered creative and the reason behind pursuing a deep passion. WHY? because too often labels and judgments are placed on the free-spirited and people are creating without purpose. Our brand is fueled by inner passion and we encourage creatives to use that inner passion to embrace their uniqueness and talent for the benefit of their artistry. All while being a rebel in their artistry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Twenty-Five beautiful years of my life were well spent in Little Haiti, Florida.
We would travel the beautiful blocks of Little Haiti, indulging in different dishes and experiencing the rich culture. Haitian food has such unique spices that you crave the fusion of flavor. We would stop by the Little Haiti Cultural Arts Center to support and purchase from the Black Owned Businesses and take a Haitian Folklore Dance Class. Refueling on natural juice we would later after a good nap continue our flavor quest. Here is a gem, you can find the best conch at the Little Haiti Park and awesome, juices and soccer.

There is no place like home!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Insurgent Cultivator`s purpose and need did not happen over night. I am forever grateful for the constant love, support and creative expression my family gives me.

I would love to give a Shoutout to my family!

They are the reason I know my CREATIVITY is my power.

My family encourages me to stand out and be bold. My mom and dad grew up playing the piano, they pushed and inspired me to always go after my BIG dreams. I have watched them display so many gifts and talents growing up. I can never forget the planning and practice we put into performing a family production for my elementary school talent show. We won the talent show at Shadowlawn Elementary School that year, with rap, dance, music, staging, and pure energy. My oldest sister Kat and brother Willie are skilled in drawing and when those two dance to music I am reminded of creative expression, I can not live without it. My older brother Alvin is a local lyricist/rapper, he has released multiple songs that are featured on my “creating” playlist today. They provide pure fuel to my fire of accomplishing my dreams, I want to inspire others to cultivate their crafts. My younger sister Twila and I have danced on multiple stages together from a young age, and our images are published in newspapers that I often revisit for inspiration. We have developed a supernatural ability to connect to all forms of creative expression and this guides us to produce art concepts for our community. We are here and we are ready to share our abilities with the world.

I want to also give a special Shoutout to my team! Insurgent Cultivator is a combination of our powers, ideas, visions, and passions together. Shout out to, Twila Othello, Debrina Cummings, Edie Emilien, and Joanna Guillaume. They inspire me with their bold individualism, skills, expertise, and out-of-this-world creativity.
