We had the good fortune of connecting with Shertonia Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shertonia, how does your business help the community?
At CARE Nursing Services and More we provide home nursing services enabling individuals to access quality care in the comfort of their homes while improving or maintaining health to the vulnerable island wide. Our wholistic approach addresses the physical, emotional, and social needs for our clients improving the overall quality of life. We provide support to the afflicted individuals who require specialized care and support. With our staff of now 18 personnel, we create a livelihood for each individual and their families, which contributes to our local economy and the retention of medical professionals in the country. We recruit, Doctors, Practical nurses, Registered nurses, Lab Technicians and Physiotherapists. Our Vision is for Jamaica to be one of the leading tourism destinations in the Caribbean, impacting one family at a time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
CARE Nursing Services and More is not another nursing agency, we are the nursing agency who cares, we go above and beyond for all our clients in all aspects. We provide specialized and individualized care to all our clients. We don’t just care about our clients but also our employees, their voices are heard, we seek to make them as comfortable as possible, so they are more inclined to provide optimum services to all patients. We employ only the best and keep rotate staff where necessary to meet the needs of each client.
I can confidently say we are most proud of our testimonials from our clients. They provide excellent reports of the services they or their family member receives and recommend our services to others who are in need. I am excited about the future and what we have in-store for health care in our country and meaningful impact we will have on families.

To get to where I am in this business, it took a love for humanity, a passion for nursing, discipline, courage, dedication, accepting all sorts of criticism and continuous learning. The process wasn’t easy, it still isn’t but it is definitely worth it. To overcome my challenges, I had to rely on my support system for emotional strength, accept criticism, pay attention to details, seek and employ professionals in areas that I had little knowledge of, do lots of research and developed self-aware-ness skills to know how to avoid or resolve future challenges.
The lessons that I have learnt along the way are the world is full of strangers rooting for you, don’t do what is popular, do what is necessary, your past does not determine your future, you are in control of your actions, take full responsibility and make decisions that will benefit you in the future.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, my shoutout goes to God for giving me the skillset I needed to build and maintain this brand. Secondly My shoutout goes to my father, Sherton Walker, who exposed me to the Entrepreneural industry by registering our first Company Cowbay Seafood Restaurant and Bar in St. Thomas, of which I am the managing director and CEO. Through dad’s mentorship, the support from my mother Erica Francis, my friend Tonya-Lee Williams and the inspiration from my siblings; Sherton, Kevaughn, Trish-ton, Shertonae, Christon Walker, Alesha and Calesha Francis, I developed leadership skills and a business mindset which is my driving force to build this brand, seeking to expanding and building more brands.
