We had the good fortune of connecting with Sheryl Srivastava and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sheryl, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business which is now two fine art galleries came very natural to me. I was always working form my clients although now in this case I had more leverage and options to serve them better. I was responsible for finding specific choices and offering options that keep them satisfied and educated enough to always want to return. Having a returning client was highest form of return I could ever have. This in turn gave me the luxury of paying my employees and artist well because I just orchestrate and keep the piece collaboration is what keeps everything cohesive.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out as a fine art major in college practicing and experiencing in most all forms of art discipline. Which has aided very much in me understanding and appreciating what it take to create and make art that stands out and is worthy of someones appreciation and attention. I look for art that has a message and purpose. It is very rewarding when the client ant the art connect. Then I feel as an art consultant / dealer and gallery owner I have accomplished my task. To create a space that gives the viewer the ability to experience a piece of art is my initial task and from there then to allow them to connect to art around them or to help guide them to a better understanding of it. Because art is very powerful and it can help us to experience hard lessons or pull us up from chaos or confusion. My business is successful because people need facets of distraction in life to help us better understand life’s complications as well as its magnificent beauty. This is a very rewarding career to be able to enhance so many peoples lives with visions that hopefully help them sustain their curiosity.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success is surrounding myself with incredibly bright, hardworking and innovative people. The kind of colleagues that help to solve problem and give the best of their abilities. I learned early on from a wonderful director in my first job, Marianne Kretekos she was incredibly inspiring to me. She was usually the first person to arrive at the office and so many times the last one to leave. Always encouraging and there to assist with difficulties and give support when projects were not on tract or in need of direction. Having a bright, positive and well thought out plan of actions made all the difference. Forming bonds with respectful creative artists like Ron Burkhardt, Serge Strosberg, Michael Pantuso and the creative attention of Kate Baldwin make much of my extensive input and endeavors more rewarding and of course my amazing Director Thomas Karr they all keep me focused and motivated. I am so grateful to be able to surround myself with such creative and dedicated people.
