We had the good fortune of connecting with Shiketa Days and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shiketa, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
When we started Derrick Danzel Days II Corporation the biggest goal was to keep our son’s name alive. To make an impact in loving memory of Derrick Jr. I didn’t want his death to stand for anything. I needed to create something that will impact lives. I knew that if I wanted to be successful that the one most important thing I had to do is make the decision to stay committed to the mission, regardless of what other’s thought, I wouldn’t stop or give-up on my dreams or my vision I had for the organization.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our Journey started December 13, 2008, following the loss of our 10-month-old son Derrick Jr. Shot and killed, A day that will forever leave a soft spot in our hearts. The loss of Derrick touched so many lives emotionally. Seeing that violence in the urban communities is becoming normal. And many families are losing children very young to guns. We sought out to create an atmosphere for the best of both worlds. To help the urban communities flourish, by teaching individuals how to earn income legally.
Derrick Danzel Days II Corporation became official in April 2011 and has been up and running ever since. Over the years we have grown by trial and error learning one step at a time, how to grow and develop programs & services for our organization. Services that will help educate communities worldwide. Our organization has had a helping hand in collaborating with other companies and teams. What sets us apart from others is the selfless attitude we exhibit when it comes to helping others rise as well. It’s not only about the success of Derrick Danzel Days II Corporation but the success of other’s as well. The journey has been long and bumpy, full of ups and downs as well as disappointment. However, we did not allow the obstacles to hinder our growth. We want people to know that we are here to stay and are passionate about our willingness to help others expand and reach new heights,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in the local area’s of South Florida for 30 plus years. I’ve experienced that there are still many great places to explore. One of my favorite restaurants are RA Sushi at Pembroke Gardens Shops. I just love the atmosphere, good vibes, good food & drinks. The customer service is outstanding. There’s always a photo area for every season to create memorable moments. Whenever friends or family members visit. The best cities to explore are Miami Beach, Pembroke Pines, Miramar & Ft. Lauderdale Beach. Miami also have some nice areas downtown to explore like Bayside. There’s a place called ‘Painting with A Twist’ located in Miami that I absolutely love. Starbucks, Duffy’s & TGIF Friday’s would absolutely be on my itinerary for a week long to-do-list. Hallandale Beach also has great dining & shopping options. So if my best friend was visiting all the above places would be in spectrum for the best time ever! Got to have my coffee so were going to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks to start the day off!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I would like to thank my husband Derrick Days Sr. for taking this journey with me and always believing in my ideas. Supporting each milestone taken thus far to expand and grow our organization. I would also like to give a special shoutout to Author J. Jae aka Jolanda Bostick for all the love and support she exhibits continuously. If it wasn’t for her ambition and willingness to take risks. I would not be writing this chapter of my life. It is because of clients and supporters like her that has contributed to the success of Derrick Danzel Days II Corporation.
