We had the good fortune of connecting with Showtime Ramon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Showtime, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by the death of my best friend.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hello, my name is Showtime Ramon (Joseph Luna-Bell) and im a music artist from Sacramento, California. I started making music when i was 16 with my best friend, Staxx (Caliph Swangin). Im 29 years old now, better than ive ever been as a music artist & as a person but Staxx is not here anymore. Through the years i stopped making music and in 2019 around when my best friend died i started making music again and life and life hasnt been the same ever since. I am driven every single day to create music everlasting past my time here on earth, by best friend didnt achieve that. Im thankful to have found my passion at a younger age (music) and to have the freedom now to craft what im feeling and to share that with people. Its a very important period in my life right now because im experiencing growth in both my spirit and my physical exterior in terms of good health. I feel better than ive felt in years and very thankful for that, my music is now better than ever. Im very excited to get out my new sound, i have a single releasing July 1st 2022 titled “Supercharged” featuring Chuuwee. This is the first song i recorded in 2022 because i ended last year with a dental surgery and it took me a while to recover and then i lost inspiration for a while and wasnt going to force my art. At this point in time im very fortunate to have songs with some of my favorite artists i listen to in real life and were true inspirations at the begining of it all. Chuuwee, Sir Michael Rocks, Young L and Lil B the Basedgod to name a few. I feel i set myself apart from other music artists or other people in general just due to my dynamics as an individual. Im the kind of person that might go somewhere and not know anybody but people still ask me what i do, i guess its the vibe because im not the rapper that pushes my music onto people. Some of my biggest inspirations are wwe wrestling, sports, video games and competetive figures like Mike Tyson or Michael Jordan. I love greatness within competetiveness that leads to victories so i study the best, i want to be the best. Music is the only thing that makes me feel powerful, it alows me to combine words and use them however i want to use them to create something i could feel. At this stage in my career im trying to create sounds that give out the vibe that i felt when i created the song. Music with more of a purpose, i love getting the light bulb feeling over my head when i craft a slick bar. The seemingly never ending amount of words in the dictionary and words of slang are probably what keeps me so intrigued with word play. I plan to create alot of different types of music through out my life because many different types inspire me and i want to replicate similiar energies to what those songs give me. I make rap music but i might listen to Kiss or Stevie Nicks for 10 hours any given day. I hope one day to be someone who opens another lane in the music industry with my own sound and to make way for other artists like me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im not really the type to hang out with someone for a whole week because im borring lol. I dont really like to go out that much, my favorite thing to do is make music. Im more sociable when i go over to friends houses, i usually go to my friend “The Bearded Beerman’s” house he is a sacramento beer brewer. When i need to get away from the studio for a bit i go to his house and play my freshest music and just talk about life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
