We had the good fortune of connecting with Simona Solomon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simona, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Milan Italy. I am proud of my heritage and Italy’s incredible culture and history. Every Italian is surrounded by beauty. Beauty in food, architecture, design, fashion, sight seeing, or just walking around. We talk about art, design and architecture at home and among friends, it’s part of our culture and daily activities. My eye as a photographer has been honed and refined throughout my youth, my art education, and further as a photographer and film maker in Italy. I have had many years of experience, travelled to many countries including Asia, and now live in the USA and try to mix the various influences into my take on photography.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I mostly shoot Portraits and Headshots. I have many requests for Individual, Family, Engagement, and Newborn Portraits. Also a large part of my job consists in shooting Business Headshots and Corporate Portraits.

I love Contextual Portraits, where I can capture not only what the person looks like but also what is their profession or personality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the beach, it’s my favorite place!

So I would probably start every day there.
One of my favorite things to do is paddle boarding, I recommend the sunset or the full moon tour.
Park and Ocean is a great place for drinks and live music, after spending the day on the beach or paddle boarding.
My favorite restaurants in Fort Lauderdale are: – 15th Street Fisheries, beautiful location, great food, and the best Bloody Mary!
– Chima, great atmosphere and they make the best Mohito in town!
– Osteria Acqua & Farina for the best Italian food in town.
– Funky Buddha Brewery or Tarpon River Brewery to grab a beer after dinner.
Next, we will probably spend a day walking around Wynwood and exploring the Miami design district. So cool!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been passionate about photography since I was a little girl. I grew up with many inspiring people around me. especially my dad who loved taking pictures with his old Nikon, and his best friend was a very famous photographer in the 1980s and 1990s in Italy. But I started taking photography classes years later, when I was studying Filmmaking and video editing. I think the Seattle Grunge scene has been a great inspiration for me. And I really love Mark Seliger’s portraits.
