We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophee Dukas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophee, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
After years of staying in my comfort zone I’ve learned staying in it only hurts you. Taking a risk is the best way to learn more and grow. I recently took the risk to move to Miami from Tampa with very little money and already have had and am attracting more opportunities. We can never grow from our comfort zone or stay in one place our whole lives. Taking a risk could potentially lead to incredible opportunities or give you knowledge. TAKE THE RISK.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a DJ & Producer and learned how to produce before I learned to DJ. I started producing in April of 2018 and started playing in August of 2018. In the beginning, playing out in front of crowds was my biggest fear my first gig out I stopped the music 4 times and my tracks didn’t download. I’m grateful for times like those in the beginning because they made me a better DJ. The mess-ups I had at the beginning molded me into a DJ that can think on the fly. I want you to know that you can do anything you want if you truly focus on and learn about what you’d like to do or are very passionate about. Passion has a huge part in where I am today in my music career. I am fully living in my purpose and the feeling is unexplainable. Don’t let failure get you down, with failure comes knowledge. Learn from your mistakes and continue to grow, life is a constant learning and growing process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First I’d like to take you to Treehouse Miami, which is one of my favorite clubs down south with a very intimate vibe. Every time I’ve played there the energy is right. Miami has a lot of intimate clubs and places to enjoy food and drinks. If you are coming to visit Miami you defiantly need to go to South Beach and enjoy the beautiful view! I just moved down to Miami from Tampa, FL the end of January 2022 I am still learning awesome spots. I hang out a lot in Wynwood and downtown. There is ALWAYS something to do here whether that be enjoying a drink and great food at a dope spot or dancing to incredible music at a nightclub. Miami is full of art and incredible music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge thanks and shoutout to Lucas Odparlik (Luke Lethal) I’ve always wanted to become a DJ and producer, my confidence was not that great at the time. If it wasn’t for his tough love in teaching me I’m not too sure where I’d be as an artist. He has taught me so much about the industry and myself. I am beyond grateful for him and will never forget where I have started.
