We had the good fortune of connecting with staisha grosch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi staisha, how do you think about risk?
Without any real certainty of what the outcome will be, every decision we make can be seen as a risk one way or another. With that said, some choices are more difficult than others because they may require us to stretch our edges a bit and step outside of our comfort zone. The willingness and capacity to step away from what feels familiar can open the door to a world of new possibilities. One thing that’s made it easier for me to explore the unfamiliar and take more “risks” is knowing that if something isn’t quite working out then I have the ability to adapt and change. Nothing is permanent. Take a chance and see what works.

What should our readers know about your business?
hōm – center for embodied awareness was founded on the vision to help individuals reconnect to their own body, heart & mind, to others, and to the world around them. Our programs and classes integrate ancient contemplative teachings & practices with the latest healing modalities in a safe, supportive environment. Through meditation, movement & yoga, relational groups, and experiential workshops, we exist to support our community on its journey toward cultivating greater presence, embodiment, and freedom in life. The practices we offer at hōm have greatly impacted all of our facilitators on their own personal journeys to reclaiming their rightful sense of aliveness. The hope is that in sharing our experience and knowledge of these practices with others they will also find a greater sense of connection and wholeness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite places to take friends and family who might be in town visiting would definitely include grabbing a burger and enjoying the sights at Le Tub in Hollywood beach. After that I’d have to take them to Jaxson’s Ice Cream for the “Kitchen Sink.” One of my other favorite landmarks and experiences that’s unique to South Florida is the Mermaid Burlesque show at the Wreck Bar on Fort Lauderdale Beach. That’s a must for all of my guests!
I’d say I’m a pretty low key person and I like to discovery and share some of the more hidden gems this area has to offer. With that said two of my other favorite, unique, local spots to grab delicious food include Meal In A Pie in Oakland Park and Sasaya Japanese Market near Victoria Park.
As for my favorite places to hang out and find some interesting collectibles, I’d have to say CJ’s Comics and Radioactive Records.
Finally, the places I like to spend the majority of my free time learning skills outside of yoga and Pilates that I’m super passionate about would be BJJ Roots and The Guild in Pompano Beach. BJJ Roots is where I train Jiujitsu and I would encourage ANY guest of mine to take at least one class! The Guild is where I’ve been learning to blacksmith! It’s amazing and they offer some of the most incredible, hands on classes! Highly recommend!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to everyone I’ve ever had the pleasure and honor to work with. I am eternally thankful that members of the community continue to put their trust in me to facilitate the development of their yoga and Pilates practice. Their commitment to the practice and their willingness to continually show up for themselves in this way is truly inspiring. I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to be able to be share these embodiment practices with others. Without the commitment of this community and their continued trust and support the ability to do what I do wouldn’t be possible.
