Meet Start Me Up! | A Tribute to the Rolling Stones!

We had the good fortune of connecting with Start Me Up! and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Start Me Up!, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We do it for the fun, we treat it like a business, and we all have a passion for the Rolling Stones. The connection we have on stage during a performance is conveyed to the audience and we can see how the music transforms them to another place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Marc “Mick Jagger” Lichtenfeld – (lead vocals) is thrilled to be playing Mick Jagger in Start Me Up!
He formerly played Mick in Sticky Fingers in the northeast and in Tumblin’ Dice in San Francisco. He also sang in San Francisco’s ‘80s tribute Like, Totally! and with Grammy nominated guitarist Gil Parris.
A former actor, Marc appeared on stage in New York and San Francisco in shows including: Slasher, the Splatter Rock Musical and the stage premier of Last Exit to Brooklyn.
When not performing as the world’s greatest rock singer, Marc is a two time best selling author and the only Mick Jagger impersonator to ring announce world championship boxing and MMA matches on ESPN, HBO and Showtime.
Shannon “Keith Richards” Richards – Lead Guitar – Shannon’s parents bought him a guitar at age 11, and he was immediately obsessed. He was deeply inspired by the biggest Rock bands of the 70’s. Shannon drew inspiration, not just from the virtuoso guitar playing, but also from the mesmerizing showmanship of bands like KISS and The Rolling Stones.
By the time he turned 18, Shannon had moved to Las Vegas where his band had a record contract and was supporting a nationally released CD. Since moving to Florida, Shannon has played in several successful bands and in great venues, including the Kravis Center opening for Charlie Daniels with the Emily Brooke Band.
Ron “Ronnie Woods” Hersey – Rhythm Guitar/Backup Vocals – A Florida native, Ron credits his parents, who were gospel singers, for his love of music. His father, a guitarist, showed him how to play and his mother taught him to harmonize. Hersey began singing in the church choir at an early age.
It wasn’t long before Rock and Roll beckoned and at fifteen Ron began performing live in his own band. Over the years, Hersey has shared the stage with many popular recording artist including; Toby Keith, Three Dog Night, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and many others.
Ron is also a long time South Florida radio personality and a sought after voiceover artist. He can be heard on WIOD 610 AM in the mornings as well as on many national Radio and TV commercials plus several audiobooks.
Guy “Charlie Watts” Abaldo – Drums – Guy started playing drums at the young age of 10 and by 17 was playing in a band with his brothers that traveled throughout the US and Canada. At an early age Guy got to perform at some famous venues including Mark Twain’s Riverboat Restaurant in New York’s Empire State Building as well as the Aladdin and Plaza Hotels in Las Vegas where he brushed elbows with many well-known acts. When he finally settled down, he chose New York, calling it home for twenty-five years and playing four nights a week plus working a professional day job. Guy moved to Florida and is excited to be playing drums for the greatest Stones tribute band – Start Me Up!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Rolling Stones!
We are a tribute show – an authentic recreation of the Rolling Stones. We make sure that each performance emanates their music, energy, and moves. Mick, Keith, and the band are our inspiration.
