Meet Stefan Ilies | Dance Teacher & Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefan Ilies and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stefan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always had the dream to have my own dance studio where everybody will have a good time and feel the magic of dancing. I started dancing when I was 6 years old and I never stopped since. I loved dancing and I was lucky to have met the amazing teachers that shaped my abilities and knowledge. After a successful career opening a dance studio was my next step. I worked hard towards it, and I couldn’t believe the moment when we signed the lease on our new space and when we ordered the floor and all the equipment. Many people will say it was easy, but anyone working on their dreams have to pun on the hard work

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Dance is for me one the most amazing form of arts. To be able to dance with your partner and be in sync together while you dance on a beautiful music, it’s just magic. I was fortunate enough to witness all the amazing transformations that happened in people lives, both physical and emotional, it was just amazing. I bring happiness in peoples lives every single day and that is just special. To be able to see people transform their mood in a matter of 2 minutes is magical. To get here was a journey, with ups and downs, but it wouldn’t be interesting without that. I enjoyed every single step of it. I always had a dream and the dream kept pushing me, even in the toughest moments. There are many lessons I learned along the way. But the most important is – Enjoy the moment, it will never be here again! Let’s Dance Miami is just my dream. A place where people come and have a good time. A place where dance makes everybody forget about our daily problems and where we can have a lot of fun! And you will be always part of our dance family!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in the City is Wynwood and the area around it. It is very unique and the restaurants are so diverse and we can always find something fun to do and something delicious to eat. We can also go for an icecream in Calle Ocho and have some delicious empanadas and some Cuban coffee. We also can go for the alligator tour in the Everglades and visit the wilderness of what Florida has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Everything I am today is due to everyone who was part of my life. The good and the bad both taught me a lesson. The shoutout goes to my parents who took me to dance at a young age. To my “dance parents” (my teachers) who always kept pushing and encouraged me, and also believed in me when nobody else did. To my wife Gaby who is my biggest supporter and my better half. To all my students, from who I have a lot to learn. To all my friends who helped me at some point in my life. I will never forget all these people, they shaped me into who I am today. I have no regrets and I look forward to what future will bring us.
