We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefano Carl Selorio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefano Carl, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Carevocacy helps the community and the world by bridging the digital gap between our older adults with today’s technology. It’s a huge gap. We have many of our older adults who unfortunately don’t know how to navigate or use today’s technology. And it creates a lot of problems, for example. We had many of our older adults socially isolated during the pandemic because they couldn’t connect with their friends or families. I’ve learned that our business has really helped families connect with their elderly loved ones. Every time we teach them about technology through our classes, they feel empowered, smarter, and confident. They have someone who believes in them, who understands what they’re going through, and who is more patient enough to help them understand today’s technology, and so that’s why I believe our business has a social impact on the communities we serve.
What should our readers know about your business?
Carevocacy is a learning platform where older adults can receive live classes about technology. This way, older adults can stay social, connected and learn new skills. I never imagined myself in the education tech space, but I saw a huge need when the pandemic came around and made our older adults felt lonelier. I realized that many of our older adults were eager to learn but just didn’t have someone caring or patient enough to understand them. I want to bridge the digital gap we have by providing tech literacy to our older adults. I want the world to know that I am here to build solutions for the aging population and that I am doing this from the heart of a caregiver.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a simple person, so I would take them to this park next to Fort Lauderdale International Airport, and we would go for a walk as the planes fly by. I believe any place can be fun or interesting because of the people you surround yourself with. They make going anywhere worth it.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my success to the families and friends who’ve supported my startup journey.
