We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Dalfonzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After a successful career as Celebrity Radio DJ “Stevie Knox” (in Miami BTW), my husband had a health crisis and I needed to reinvent myself. This was in the early 2000s and the internet was still pretty new. It was really exciting that I could go to school to be a Life Coach over the internet! Then I felt a nudge to look into hypnosis. On the very first day, I felt like the skies had parted and I KNEW this was what I was meant to do. Before the certification was over, I had rented an office, gotten a website, etc. and haven’t looked back. I had no business experience, but followed my intuition and was in the black from the begining.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a hypnotist is NOT for the faint of heart! For years, every time I would attend a local networking event there was a man who would call out “Watch out! She’s gonna make you bark like a dog or cluck like a chicken!” Many people do not understand what hypnosis is and how powerful it is, and it scares them.

I stopped introducing myself as a hypnotist for a while, and just said “I’m a coach.” And while I am a coach, my “secret sauce” is hypnosis. I call myself an Integrative Hypnotist because I combine hypnosis with a gazillion other modalities that I have been trained and certified in: yoga, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and more. When I tossed aside others’ misconceptions and CLAIMED my “superpower” of hypnosis, that’s when things really came together! When we tap into the incredible power of hypnosis to rewire our brain, just about ANYTHING is possible!

One of the most exciting moments of my career was opening Facebook to see a picture of a client who had come to me for her “crippling fear of flying.” The picture was of her skydiving out of an airplane! That was so exciting, but it gets even better. This beautiful young woman went on to create a very successful business as “The Five Foot Traveler!” I LOVE sharing her story because it shows people what is possible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely want to Shoutout to my husband Michael Dalfonzo, who has been supportive of my career through all its ups and downs. Also a BIG Shoutout to Donna Cravotta, my entrepreneurial sister. I have been so blessed to have been the recipient of her brilliance and her guidance. One of the biggest gifts she has given me is to embrace ALL of my parts. I never used to talk about being a Celebrity Radio DJ; and Donna helped me to understand the through line: I used my voice as a Radio DJ to “hypnotize” my listeners to come back day after day. Now (and for the past 18 years) I use my voice to literally “hypnotize my clients to make incredible life changes.
