We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Rodrigues and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance is so important to have in life. Balance became more important to me over time as I learned to work with people based off of their energy. Making sure you make time for the things that are valuable to you is essential. Finding the right balance may be difficult, especially if there’s a specific project that you’re trying to bring to life. Grounding yourself and coming back to your safe space – which I usually find by being alone or at the beach – keeps us from burning out. Staying original and true to myself is something I value and make a lot of time for.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When I was first introduced to Priscilla, I was given an amazing opportunity to expand into curating events and managing artists. I felt very passionate about PROIBIDÆ – a party that celebrates Baile Funk, a genre I feel so connected to because of my Brazilian roots. I have always been an artist trying different mediums- starting with canvas and more recently expanding into nail art. I feel passionate about working with other artists in the Miami community. Diafano provides local artists a unique opportunity to be seen by a greater audience and actually promote homegrown talent. I feel I’m just now seeing the results of all the hard work I’ve put into my passions for art, events, and bringing people together. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned about being in a collaborative project is the importance of communication – every step of the way. When you are working as a team, it’s important to make sure that everyone involved is dedicated to bringing the same vision to life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots for art is Pamm, Bass and Casa Crea. Fritanga Cana Brava and Naomi’s Garden are my go-to’s for authentic food and OMG Briagadeiro for my favorite Brazilian dessert. Haulover Beach is a must and under the Virginia Key Bridge for the best sunset spot in the city. Visiting all the local parties or bars to end the day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think it is very obvious to state that I owe this shoutout to Priscilla Cavalcante. She is the co-founder and creative director of Concreta Sala – a creative lab, record label, artist management team, and events host. I assist with artist & events management. We work together very beautifully and created a relationship that I am beyond grateful for and have been collaborating on the party series PROIBIDÆ – which will be one year in November! I’ve been able to learn a lot in events production and artist management and got the opportunity to start Diafano On View. I would also like to give a shoutout to Shotgun Live and Miami Community Radio for their support and encouragement on this recent venture. I do everything out of love and appreciate everyone that returns that energy. Community should be an exchange of love and support and I try to carry that with me everywhere I go.
