We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephany Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephany, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Venezuela. As a teenager, I pursued my dream of becoming an artist, despite constantly being told that I would never find work because opportunities were practically nonexistent. I refused to listen and enrolled in college to study Cinematography, determined to change how artists are perceived and respected in Venezuela. I’m not there yet, but I’m striving to make a name for myself so that every Venezuelan with a passion for art knows it’s possible. I had the opportunity to come to the U.S., and now I make a living from my photography. Step by step, I want to keep inspiring others to follow their dreams.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started my photography journey, I didn’t know many people, but I needed to practice—so I became my own muse. I fell in love with self-portraits; they became one of the best ways to express myself. From there, I began photographing my friends, transforming them into models.

Thanks to social media, my work started gaining recognition, and photographers from around the world wanted to learn my techniques. That feeling is indescribable. I began attracting my own clients—people who wanted to work with me not just because I’m a photographer, but because I’m Stephy Roja—and that’s everything I ever dreamed of.

I know my work makes people feel good and look amazing, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude for all the incredible experiences this journey has given me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The beach—any beach—is pure magic. Every single one has its own unique charm. Then there’s Wynwood, where art is everywhere, surrounding you, allowing you to become one with it.

This year, I’m eager to explore new, incredible places, and I’m doing my research to find them. But no matter where I go, I’ve always believed that every space holds the potential to create art.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I always say that I have angels all around me. My family has always supported my dreams, but there are three people who deserve a special mention.

First, my mom and dad—for always believing in me and my career, supporting me every step of the way toward success.

Second, my husband—he gave me my first space to set up my studio and has stood by my side through it all. He never stopped believing in me, even in the moments when I doubted myself.

And last but certainly not least, my best friend Alfredo. He’s more than a best friend—he’s my brother in life and my mentor. Before I even realized it myself, he knew photography was my calling. He’s not just my biggest supporter; I’m his as well. Together, our art is pure magic. In photography and in life, we are always the best team.
