We had the good fortune of connecting with Stewella Daville and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stewella, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is patience. In a world where everyone is in a rush to be in the next big show or receive a publication, I’ve learned that patience leads to excellence. By taking the time to refine your craft, you open the door to the best opportunities and create experiences that are truly unforgettable.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is my outgoing personality. I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come— from starter magazine’ publications to being in Elle & Harper’s Bazaar, both U.S. & internationally. From modeling to being a show producer, model coordinator & backstage manager for various fashion shows has shown my journey wasn’t easy, and nothing was handed to me. I put in the hard work —attending castings, networking at events, and building genuine connections with models, photographers, & fashion show professionals. Was it easy for some? Yes. For me? Absolutely not. I heard countless no’s- too old, too big- it was a mess. But I turned those rejections into motivation. I created routines, started working out, improved my diet, drank more water, and now I don’t just look good; I look even younger lol.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that not every model is your friend. We’re all chasing the same opportunities, and sharing information isn’t common. But I believe in collaboration— when one of us wins, we all win! Not every show you need to grace that particular runway & not every gig/shoot you need to be on set for.
For the record I want people to know what’s for you is for you in your time. And by the way I’m not mean lol my resting face might suggest otherwise, but I’m one of the friendliest, coolest people you’ll ever meet!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came for a week-long trip, I’d take them to the city where we’d start with dinner at Frankie & Johnnys, where everything on the menu is delicious & the manger Roxy is an absolute gem. For drinks nothing beats Coquito Blue in queens the bartender Christy knows how to keep the vibe going! We’d definitely check out whatever cool nyc pop-up is happening at that time, as there’s always something exciting to explore. And for a night out, we love to dance, so finding a great lounge with dope vibes would be easy— New York has no shortage of spots to let loose and have a great time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family, close friends, my Caribbean Fashion Collective Partners Xavier Walker & Norka Vasquez. Lastly Justin Haynes designer of Jus10H. There were so many moments when I felt like giving up, but their unwavering support kept me going. Especially my son- he used to proudly tell everyone that his mom is a supermodel, even when I was far from where I am today. This tribe I have there belief in me, combined with the love and encouragement from all of them, reminded me to keep pushing forward. Every setback became a stepping stone, and now, I can truly say I’m where I belong. Thank you for never letting me give up on myself.
