We had the good fortune of connecting with Sunday Ordoñez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sunday, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My life used to be absolutely consumed by work and I felt like I was always on the grind. Since starting my own business, I love the flexibility it’s given me to have autonomy over my schedule and to prioritize my mental health. I think it’s so important to make time for self care before you get burnt out rather than using self care as a bandaid once you’ve gone over the deep end.
I read the book Deep Work by Cal Newport and it changed my perspective on creating a better balance for work time and personal time. He emphasizes the importance of using time blocking for deeply focused work so that you can get more done in a more efficient manner. Highly recommend it!
What should our readers know about your business?
We started Swell Social Creative Agency in January of 2021. As someone who worked in multiple agencies over the past several years, I noticed a lot of people in the industry cutting corners and not truly giving dedicated, quality work to each and every one of their clients. This was something that I wanted to do differently with Swell Social. We care deeply about our clients and are passionate about being honest and transparent with them every step of the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have loved living in the Fort Lauderdale area over the past five years! One of my favorite spots for working remotely or just chilling out at is Wells Coffee! They have amazing coffee, yummy bites, and great vibes.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel so grateful to have my husband Jose by my side as my number one supporter! He is also doing some amazing things over at @slowbrewfinance where he has a podcast about personal finance and investing. Go check it out!
