We had the good fortune of connecting with Surya Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Surya, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“When something really matters to you – let it go! Say to the universe: ‘You know what I want. Give it to me in the path of least resistance. Give it to me in the easiest way possible. Give it to me anyway I can get it.'” – Abraham Hicks This quote inspires me whenever I feel stuck. By “stuck” I mean when I want something to happen exactly how I imagine, and it does not, or when I want something to materialize in a specific time frame. From my experience, every goal I set for myself that became a reality, I wouldn’t be able to explain how they came to happen. But I do know I worked toward my goals and tried not to get attached to the final results. When I let go of the HOW and WHEN, I give myself space to relax and enjoy what I’m doing in the present moment, knowing what I want to materialize is already happening.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m the CEO of The Missing Sock Photography and co-founder of We Are The Missing Sock. We are different from other companies in many aspects. In TMS photography, we innovate the way people experience photography. Our goal is for families to feel the images we capture and make the school’s experience as pleasant and professional as possible. We want people to feel happy, joyful, satisfied, and have a memory that will last for many years. In We Are TMS, our goal is for people to have all the resources I didn’t have when I started my business. I didn’t know anything, nor had anyone helping me find the way. In We Are TMS, we want people to skip that part in their business where they don’t know how to sell their product/service and have guidance and resources in every step of their way. We want people to succeed!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The perfect week will be: Having Breakfast at Greenstreet Cafe in Coconut Grow. Afternoon coffee in Vizcaya. Having the best Miami burger (Kush and Hast) in Kush. Having dinner in Chotto Matte in Miami Beach and enjoying the music. Renting a scooter and go through the Venetian Way. Renting a kayak in the Oleta state park and spend the morning looking at the manatees. Walk around Wynwood and end up having a cocktail on the Astra rooftop watching the sunset. Having a relaxing day at the Standard Spa. And having an early dinner in the 27 Restaurant & Bar in the Freehand Miami! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, many people are participating in my success. First and foremost, my husband, who’s been there by my side from the very beginning – he’s my rock and the person who walks with me when things are going very well and when things get hard.Of course, the TMS team! Together, we have come across many obstacles this past year, and we joined our strengths to be more reliable and improve in many aspects, professionally and individually. There are so many different names I would love to mention – I don’t think I’d ever finish.
