We had the good fortune of connecting with Nia Spicer-Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
pHembiotics was started after a personal experience with chronic Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), Yeast Infections, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). I thought to myself, why aren’t there any solutions to resolve these issues and that I could develop a sustainable solution, I could help other women like myself.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets pHembiotics apart from other businesses in this industry, is that we provide unique sustainable natural solutions to feminine pH balance problems. I am most proud of the inception to creation of the business, being that many people do not actualize their visions and dreams. I am also proud that we have been in business successfully for two years. It has not been easy to get where we are today. There has been a lot of trial and error decisions for our growth and development. I have learned not to give up and that there is always a solution to any challenge that we face as a company. We have also had to learn to be patient in terms of our growth, slow and steady wins the race.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great questions! Living in sunny South Florida brings lots of things to do surrounding the ocean. Whenever friends come to town to visit, a day trip to Miami or Fort Lauderdale is always on the agenda! We love to jetski, parasail, and enjoy the warm waters of the eastern Florida ocean. One of our favorite restaurants is Shooters, in Fort Lauderdale. The Sugar Factory in Miami is always a great time along with the awesome, Texas de Brazil!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! Credit must be given to the strong women in my family who have influenced me. My husband, mother, aunts, and two sisters have always encourage me to follow my dreams and have supported me throughout the process of starting and operating a business.
