We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzane Bacelar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Suzane, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My passion for making films and taking photos of families has come from watching my own family grow and change. I am obsessed with finding ways to slow down time and having the ability to remember every detail of my daughter’s childhood and our family moments together.

You know how parents sometimes say, “I miss when my child used to (you fill in the blank)”? I wanted to capture those moments – big or small – and make them super special! Being a mom, I get it. Kids change all the time – their interests, how they talk, their mannerisms, how they connect with you, everything!

So whether it’s a random Sunday or a big day like a baby’s birth, I turn family moments into video and photos memory time capsule, in motion and stills, with all the feels and sounds.

My goal is to take families back in time with my films and photos, so they can relive those moments together. My work is nostalgic and all about those warm, fuzzy feelings, bringing people back to how they felt in a certain moment. It’s also a way to remind kids how much they were and are loved.

I’ve found that video is the perfect way to tell these family stories – from the birth of a child to capturing the legacy of grandparents, and even just everyday moments like reading together at home. I’m on a mission to capture those fleeting moments and interactions that might otherwise slip away.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Birth and family videography is a fairly new concept, which is a challenge by itself and, at the same time what set me apart from other professional photographers. Not many families know this is even a thing available to them.

I wish I had my daughter’s birth documented in the video. Back then, I had pictures to remember her cute face, but I didn’t have a video of her first cry. Or how my husband’s face lit up when he saw her for the first time. Or even my first words to her. And those little moments keep fading away in my mind as time passes!

But imagine having these incredible moments on video, where you can relive them over and over again. It’s a game-changer for families! And I want to provide this to parents who truly prioritize remembering all the nuances of their family life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Palm Beach County has a lot to offer for a week-long trip! Let’s see… I’d spend Day 1 at the beach and grab lunch at a beachside cafe or restaurant like Benny’s on the Beach. Day 2 could be spent exploring Mizner Park, known for its shopping and dining options, or the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach. Day 3 I’d go to CityPlace to enjoy outdoor shopping and entertainment with plenty of dining options. Day 4: Take a scenic drive to Jupiter and visit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum for stunning views of the coast. Then have lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants in Harbourside Place. On Day 5 I’d stroll/shop at Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, and have lunch at one of the trendy cafes or restaurants in downtown West Palm Beach’s Clematis Street. Day 6 I’d take a sunset cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway for breathtaking views of the coastline. Last day I’d take them to have a leisurely brunch at a waterfront restaurant overlooking the ocean or Intracoastal Waterway, and take a final stroll along the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been fortunate to have so many mentors, supporters, and cheerleaders who have played an important role in my life and business.

The list is so long that I’d need a novel to fit them all in! Today, though, I want to give a special shout-out to my family and my incredible fellow filmmakers at the FilmingLife Academy. Their support and inspiration keep me fueled on this journey.
