Meet Tamara Benavente | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Benavente and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamara, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe there are two factors that are key to the success of my brand: strong visuals and great customer service. They’re both connected. You can’t get strong photos if you don’t have your client’s trust. And you gain that through the way you treat them and most importantly, how you make them feel. If you’re warm and relatable and make your clients feel at ease, it will show up on your images.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a Miami based Photographer with a special love for portraits. I studied art in high school and film production in college. I truly believe my education was key in training my eye and giving me the skills I use every day when taking photographs. It hasn’t always been an easy road though, mostly because I’m an immigrant, and the first years settling here, were difficult. But also, because It took me some time to figure out what my path was. I’m the kind of person who has many interests (most of them related to the arts) and somehow for many years, I tried other jobs, which were enjoyable, but not quite the right fit for me. Nevertheless, it all added to who I am today, as a person and as a professional. I can now say that everything I did was a building block to where I am now.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d of course take them to the beach, and South Beach in particular. It’s a tourist spot, but you have to do it, at least once. And, to be honest, I still enjoy walking down Lincoln Rd, and seeing everyone there. Now, after that, I’d take them to Wynwood, maybe a one day trip to Key West, I’d drive around Downtown, Brickell, and Coral Gables. I’d make sure we watch a movie or, even better a concert, out in the SoundScape Park, outside the New World Symphony. I’d take them to eat at my favorite Italian restaurant, George’s and have coffee and dessert at my favorite French cafe, Cafe Creme… after grabbing some treats from Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to Zue Da Costa my favorite fashion stylist, creative partner and, sometimes, model.
